About

The Inquisitr aims to provide an relevant mix of tech, pop culture and odd/ funny news to the blog reading world. As far as we know this mix is unique in the blogosphere, and we hope you’ll enjoy it.

Editor: Duncan Riley

Born in Sydney, Australia, Riley is a pioneer in Australian politics on the internet, creating the first website for a political party branch in Australia in 1995, and going on later that year to write the now defunct Australian Conservative Politics portal, the first conservative aggregate political site in Australia.

In 1999, he designed and ran the website Young Australians Against this Republic, in conjunction with a number of political and social groups within Australia.

In 2002, he launched The Blog Herald, the first blog dedicated to the news of the then still small blogging world. The site went on to become a Technorati Top 100 blog and covered major milestones in the blogging industry, including the growth of Gawker Media and the founding of Weblogs Inc. Riley sold the site in January 2006.

In 2005, he launched weblog network Weblog Empire, which later was merged into blogging network b5media, a company founded by Riley along with Bloggers Darren Rowse and Jeremy Wright. b5media took $2 million in venture capital in 2006. In late 2006, Riley left b5media to pursue personal projects.

In May 2008, Riley completed a 12 month stint as a writer at TechCrunch, regarded as the bible of Web 2.0 and the second most popular blog in the world according to Technorati.

Pop Writer: Meieli Sawyer Detoni

Meieli Sawyer Detoni is a journalist who contributes to major print and online sources worldwide. While she specializes in celebrity, fashion, and lifestyle topics, she has written on just about everything else during her career. When she’s not working, she’s busy critiquing Tom Cruise, Victoria B., and Britney. Which basically means that she’s always working. It’s a good thing that she loves it!
In addition to heading up Pop here, you can find Meieli scattered across the web on major blog networks. She currently lives in the U.S. and calls Brazil her second home.

Tech Writer: JR Raphael

JR Raphael brings a wealth of journalism experience and tech know-how to The Inquisitr. Raphael’s journey into multimedia communications dates way back to the era of the dial-up bulletin board system, when “high-speed” meant 14.4 BPS. He developed and operated a successful BBS for years before the internet became a mainstream entity.

More recently, Raphael has written and produced countless television specials, newscasts, and web presentations for network TV affiliates in Southeastern and Midwestern America. He now works as a full-time writer, crafting columns for a variety of print and online publications. His work has been honored with an Emmy, three Murrows, and several top distinctions from the Associated Press.

Raphael is unabashedly obsessed with all things electronic and scours the earth for the coolest (and most often completely unnecessary) gadgets known to man. He is particularly proud of the nine multifunctional remotes that grace his home and give his girlfriend an instant migraine any time she tries to operate an appliance.

Tech Writer: Dominic Rivera

In his younger years, Dominic Rivera worked as research editor for one of the major dailies in Manila (until a corrupt president forced them all out by buying the company), editor of an online newspaper, and technical head for an Internet service provider. He founded The Blogging Times in 2006 and was named Times Person of the Year that very same year (with You, remember?). He blogs from the East Coast.
