Donald Trump recently complimented JD Vance on his weight loss, and some social media users questioned his cognitive health. As reported by The Daily Beast, Trump approached Vice President JD Vance during an Easter lunch.
Trump spotted the Vice President at the front and commented, “Is JD here? Where’s JD? Oh JD.” He then added, “He’s lost weight. He got a little thinner. I’m looking for a heavy set gentleman and now I find a perfect looking specimen.”
Vance previously stated that he went through a weight-loss journey in August 2024. He said he had lost almost 30 pounds since his 2022 Ohio Senate campaign. He said he achieved results through diet and exercise, not through any weight-loss medication.

However, following Trump’s remarks, many netizens are criticizing him for his joke. Some are also speculating about dementia as a reason for him to say these things out loud, as reported by The Irish Star.
Comedian Jay Jurden wrote on X, “Trump is currently at ‘calling ppl fat in public’ level dementia.” Someone else pointed out, “Rude. I love Trump but you know sometimes you just keep those thoughts to yourself you know, but he probably felt like it was a compliment. I guess it was.”
Another stated, “Dementia patients say whatever the F they want to say.”
As the Irish Star noted, the Alzheimer’s Society provided information about the condition. According to them, “sometimes a person with dementia can lose their inhibitions and may behave in ways that others find embarrassing.”
Concerns about Trump’s health are not new. Recently, he fumbled with his words while reading from a note and talking about his ballroom project, as reported by The Daily Beast.
He said, “I see right here, I just wrote it down, he said we need congressional approval.” He was referring to a judge who halted his ballroom construction.
Trump also stresses, “…but this is positive for us—I’m allowed that, meaning we are allowed, to continue building as necessary to, let’s see…What is that? To…Cover the safety and security of the White House and its grounds.”
During the Easter lunch event, Trump also touched on peace talks with Iran, which Vance reportedly oversees.
🚨Trump on the Iran deal:
“If it doesn’t happen, I’m blaming JD Vance. If it does happen, I’m taking full credit.”
He said this out loud. On camera.

He asked Vance how the deal is moving, and after getting an answer, he said, “ So, if it doesn’t happen, I’m blaming JD Vance. If it does happen, I’m taking full credit.”
After listening to this, the crowd laughed.
Reuters recently reported that JD Vance has been working through Pakistan to get a ceasefire in the Iran conflict, according to a source. Under Trump’s instruction, Vance also signalled that the U.S. would accept a deal if Iran agreed to some demands.
The source also claimed that Vance had delivered a “stern message” that Trump is impatient. There are possibilities of strikes on Iran’s infrastructure if an agreement is not reached.
