Is Selena Gomez breaking the “girl code” when it comes to her close friendship with Taylor Swift?
According to a new report by Hollywood Life , Selena broke the unspoken “girl code” again over the weekend when she was spotted partying with the ex-girlfriend of Taylor’s current boyfriend, Calvin Harris.
The site is reporting that Gomez was spotted dancing the night away with British pop star Rita Ora on January 16, who was part of a “larger group, which included Samuel Krost” that Selena was seen hanging out with.
But while Selena and Rita’s outing seemed pretty innocent, the surprising team-up comes just months after Ora publicly spoke out about her 2014 split with Harris in a very candid interview with Wonderland Magazine , where she admitted that splitting with the handsome DJ made her want “to crawl in [her] bed and die.”
Gomez and Ora clearly had a pretty great time during their mysterious get-together, even snapping a selfie together that Rita posted on her official Instagram page. Captioned with nothing but a kissing lips emoji, the photo already has more than 155,000 likes on the photo-sharing site.
Selena, on the other hand, has so far kept mum on her night with the X Factor judge, but did her night with Taylor’s man’s former lady cause friction between her and her famous friend?

Proving that all is well between her and Taylor, Selena took to Instagram herself on January 16 to post a shot of herself playing in the bushes with the “Bad Blood” singer, which she captioned with lyrics from Swift’s latest single, “Out of the Woods.”
Gomez wrote alongside the photo, “Are we in the clear yet?”
Gomez and Swift were also spotted spending some quality time together following Selena’s night out with Rita Ora at a local gym in California. According to the Daily Mail , Selena and Taylor were seen together leaving a Body by Simone class, where they appeared to be pretty happy to be in each other’s company.
But while all appears to still be good between the two, this isn’t the first time Selena has been spotted spending some quality time with someone who’s not exactly in Taylor Swift’s infamous girl squad.
Just one week before her Rita Ora encounter, Gomez was photographed with Katy Perry , who Swift is alleged to have had some bad blood with in the past.

After Selena and Katy were seen together at a Golden Globes after-party on January 10, fans of the “We Are Never Getting Back Together” singer were quick to slam Gomez on Twitter for spending time with the pop star.
“Funny how Selena played Katy Perry’s part in the Bad Blood music video and now they are hanging out together,” Twitter user @xbeginagainx wrote alongside the photo on January 11, while @niallftlloyd wrote on the 140 character site, “isn’t it weird for Selena being friends with both Taylor and Katy [sic].”
But despite all the fan drama surrounding the snap, a source confessed to Hollywood Life that the photo didn’t actually cause any major drama between Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift.
“During the Globes, photographers pair people together. The celebs are also usually put together in VIP sections to stay away from other partygoers, so they are given some type of space,” a source told the site of Selena and Katy’s encounter. “Whomever you hang out with and see is sometimes forced on you and often uncontrollable.”
“Taylor knows that Selena and Katy’s conversation wasn’t about her, so she is not thinking of it as any type of shade,” the source continued to the site of Swift’s take on the snap. “Taylor is not bothered or disturbed with who Selena is hanging out with because she has dealt with her being with Justin Bieber in the past. She can separate it and be happy to have Selena as her friend.”
