Texas woman Justice Lee Moncibaiz, accused of abandoning her 3-year-old at her apartment, has been booked. The mom was taken to the Taylor County Jail, where she posted a $5,000 bond the following day.
According to the KTXS report, Abilene police were called to an apartment complex at Texas’ Hartford St. on September 20, 2025, by neighbors after they found a child in a soiled diaper sitting at the bottom of a staircase.
The officers tried to locate the apartment in question and entered through an unlocked door, where they found mail that belonged to Justice Lee Moncibaiz. The officers then informed the mom that the child was with them.
According to police records, Moncibaiz arrived 40 minutes after she received the call from the officers.

Moncibaiz then claimed that she had left the child with a family member. However, she failed to provide any contact details or additional information regarding the relative. During further interrogation, Moncibaiz confessed to leaving the child as she “needed a night out.” She further stated that she went to a few bars in Texas with one of her friends.
As police continued to investigate the case and questioned other friends and relatives of Moncibaiz, they revealed that they had not heard from her in years or were clueless about the family member Moncibaiz was referring to during the interrogations.
This is not an isolated incident where a mom abandoned her child. A similar incident was reported in Michigan, where a mom of four had allegedly left her three kids locked in the home for years, while the fourth child lived with her husband.
The accused mom, Kelly Bryant, was charged with three counts of first-degree child abuse. The woman allegedly left her three children, aged 12, 13, and 15, in their apartment between 2020 and 2021. The incident came to light after the landlord filed a complaint as he had not received rent for more than four months.
When Texas police entered the apartment, they found that the children were living in deplorable conditions. They were not provided with the basic necessities for survival. The children, on investigation, had revealed that they were asked by their mom not to answer phone calls or leave the apartment.
