One Direction fans rejoice! Everyone’s favorite British pop rockers have finally made an official statement about their new album. According to Billboard , the quintet will release their fourth album, and guess what the super creative name of the new body of work is? Quite simply, the collection is called Four .
In conjunction with the announcement of their new album, Liam, Naill, Zayn, Harry, and Louis have also offered up a single from the upcoming release. The song is titled “Fireproof,” and is available for a limited time free on the band’s official website . Here is a listen of the first single “Fireproof.”
The band offered the following statement regarding what the fans could expect when Four is released later this fall.
“We’ve worked incredibly hard writing and recording [‘Four’] whilst we’ve been on the road and we couldn’t have done it without your support. As a special thank you for everything you guys have done for us we wanted to give you “Fireproof” — it’s a track from the album and you can get it for free right now. You’ll be able to download it for free for the next 24 hours. We hope you enjoy it and we can’t wait for you to listen to the album in full. Thank you, you guys mean the world to us.”
The One Direction boys have certainly come a long way since they placed third in the UK version of X Factor four years ago. Since then, they’ve released three albums. The first album, Up All Night , which was released in 2011, shot straight to the top of the charts. The boys have racked up hit after hit ever since. The band has even brought in strong sales figures from a merchandising perspective, selling everything from 1D branded singing toothbrushes to a signature fragrance line.
Together as a band, One Direction has also toured extensively. To date, they’ve headlined three major tours — with a fourth in progress — to promote the new material.
Adding to their growing list of accolades, the five boys of One Direction recently were the recipients of the People’s Choice Award for Favorite Band, and also have been honored several times and in several categories at the Kids’ Choice Awards, as well as the Teen Choice Awards. They’ve also won two American Music Awards; one for Favorite Pop/Rock Album and the other Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group.
Only time will tell if the next offering from 1D will be as successful (or more so) than the previous three albums. Our guess is that they’ll do just fine.
The tentative release date for the new 1D album is November 17.
