Al Gore for President?

Yes, you read that right. And no, it’s not in regards to the 2000 election.

The report that set the internet ablaze first appeared on BuzzFeed . The story suggested some conversations were already in process with Al about the possibility.

“Supporters of Al Gore have begun a round of conversations among themselves and with the former vice president about his running for president in 2016, the latest sign that top Democrats have serious doubts that Hillary Clinton is a sure thing.”

The story also quoted an anonymous “senior Democrat” source about a potential run, affirming the possibility of a Gore run.

“They’re getting the old gang together. They’re figuring out if there’s a path financially and politically. It feels more real than it has in the past months.”

But don’t purchase your Gore 2016 stickers just yet. While another unnamed source in the article was said to be “pouring lukewarm water” on the topic, Roy Neel — a former adviser to Gore — dismissed the idea.

“It’s extremely unlikely,” Neel said of a potential Gore run in the BuzzFeed article.

Neel wasn’t the only one dousing water on the flames surrounding a potential run, according to a CNN report. The news outlet decried the possibility thanks to a Gore associate while a spokesman for the former Vice President said there was no truth in the claim.

The call for Gore to enter the 2016 presidential race was made in March , and it’s sporadically appeared since then. At the time, MSNBC reported allies for Gore denounced the call to action and said he would not enter the race.

While he’s had opportunity to throw his support behind a candidate (and quell chatter about a potential run), Al Gore has not done so yet, the Washington Times reported. In June, when asked if he would support a Hillary campaign, Gore said it was too soon to offer any candidate an endorsement.

Chatter has continued to grow louder for Gore to run as Clinton’s campaign has taken blows in the recent weeks. Salon joined the masses seeking Gore to run when signs showed Hillary’s campaign vulnerable , due to a growing distrust among potential voters. And just yesterday, the Clinton campaign suffered another crushing blow as Bernie Sanders now leads in the latest New Hampshire poll , according to CNN .

Whether or not Al does decide to run, Twitter users are certainly poking fun at a potential Gore run.

I want Al Gore to run for President because he can teach us how to use the Internet.
