Several prominent Colorado Republicans were calling for Donald Trump to step down from the presidential race yesterday. Today, Trump for Colorado leaders support Trump’s debate victory.
Today the Colorado Trump-Pence campaign released the following statements reacting to Donald Trump’s victory in last night’s Presidential Debate held at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
“Tonight’s debate showed a stark contrast between Mr. Trump, a highly successful businessman, problem solver, and change agent, and Hillary Clinton, a career politician who has failed our country time after time in her decades as a Washington insider.
Mr. Trump showed the American people that we have an incredible opportunity to move the country in a different direction by electing the Trump-Pence ticket. Trump’s powerful vision for America is the only choice in November.”

Another Colorado county chairman also commented for the press release.
“Mr. Trump came into this debate fully prepared and ready to articulate his powerful vision for America. Hillary Clinton has told her Wall Street backers that she will open our borders and sign the rigged TPP trade deal and admits she is removed from middle class Americans and doesn’t realize what they’re going through.
America deserves better. Mr. Trump will change Washington and Make America Great Again.”

Just yesterday, Colorado’s Republican U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner called for Trump to step aside and give the nomination to his running mate, Mike Pence, according to the Coloradoan.
Gardner released a statement from his Twitter account on Saturday.
The U.S. senator said that Trump’s flaws “are beyond moral shortcomings and… shows a disgust for American character and disdain for dignity unbecoming of the President.”
“I cannot and will not support someone who brags about degrading and assaulting women.”

Daryl Glenn, a Republican U.S. Senate candidate from Colorado Springs who has openly expressed his support for Trump throughout the election season, tweeted last week that he was “extremely disappointed” by Trump’s comments.
“As a father, as a Christian, and as a Republican, I believe that we simply cannot tolerate a nominee who speaks this way about women…. If Trump is truly committed to making America great again, then this is the only way forward.”
Glenn tweeted again a day later to post his “Official Position on Donald Trump.”
“I’m extremely troubled by these comments and I’m still praying over support of his election. My faith teaches me grace, mercy, respect, and forgiveness after repentance. Time and action will tell.”
Later on in the day, he tweeted again. This time, calling for Trump to step aside.
Gov. John Hickenlooper of Colorado quoted author Maya Angelou on his personal Twitter account Saturday in condemning reference to Trump’s candidacy.

Some Colorado lawmakers expressed their disdain publicly through news outlets. U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman, a Republican, said in a statement to the Denver Post, that he would not vote for Trump.
“His defeat at this point seems almost certain and four years of Hillary Clinton is not what is best for this country.”
Colorado is considered a battleground state in this presidential election. Trump took a half-point lead over Democrat Hillary Clinton in September.

Last night’s second presidential debate sparked controversy throughout the nation, but it seems that several politicians from Colorado have decided to stand by Donald Trump in his race to be the President of the United States.
