Apple on Wednesday announced that its iOS Do Not Disturb bug will be automagically fixed on January 7, 2013.
Starting on January 1, ringers failed to turn back on after users set a predetermined silent period on their iOS-based smartphone.
Apple admitted that the problem existed on Wednesday, but, rather than offer a quick patch, the company sent out the following statement:
“Do Not Disturb scheduling feature will resume normal functionality after January 7, 2013. Before this date, you should manually turn the Do Not Disturb feature on or off.”
Software bugs can often take a while to fix since developers must find the offending code, write a fix, and launch the new patch. However, most developers at least offer some type of explanation, rather than simply telling customers that a bug fix will arrive in a few days.
Customers have taken to Apple support forums to complain about the missing feature and the inconvenience it has caused.
The Do Not Disturb bug arrives only a short time after Apple worked to repair the damage caused by its disastrous Apple Maps release.
