Director, puppeteer, and voice over artist Frank Oz has expressed interest in portraying Yoda once again should the little guy get his own Star Wars movie.

Since Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed the studio would pursue several standalone Star Wars flicks, the internet has been buzzing with possibilities. One of the more popular rumors suggests that Lucasfilm is currently eyeing a movie starring Yoda.

According to Cinema Blend , Oz is interested in returning to the role should the character find himself in his very own standalone movie. Although nothing has been confirmed by Lucasfilm, Oz seems devoted to bringing the little guy to life once again.

During his conversation with the Los Angeles Times , the man who created voices for Miss Piggy and the Cookie Monster said folks shouldn’t anticipate a return of the Yoda puppet. Frank Oz said the movie would likely feature a computer-generated version of the character.

He explained:

“I think it depends on the story, but I think at this point you can’t go back to the puppet. The reason George [Lucas] did the CGI, which I supported, was that he wanted to tell a story that would have been hampered by the physical limitations of the puppet.”

Although Yoda could receive his very own standalone Star Wars movie, there are a few other characters Lucasfilm is considering as well. The Inquisitr previously reported that Robert Rodriguez is extremely eager to helm a Han Solo flick. The story is rumored to be set between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope .

Another rumor currently making the rounds suggests Disney is very interested in crafting a movie centered around beloved bounty hunter Boba Fett . However, nothing has been officially confirmed as of this writing.

Are you a fan of Yoda? Are you happy that Frank Oz is interested in voicing the little green Jedi one more time?
