During the WWE’s recent live event over in Madrid, Spain it appears one of the SmackDown Live superstars has suffered an unfortunate injury. WWE was holding a variety of matches from Raw and SmackDown over in the United Kingdom and Spain. During the Madrid show this weekend, there was a tag team match in which one masked superstar got hurt while performing. Here are the latest details on what went down in the match with Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin, Sin Cara, and others.
According to Sportskeeda , it appears that SmackDown Live ‘s Sin Cara was injured while part of the big tag team match in Madrid, Spain. Cara was eluding “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin when he rushed at him near the ropes. In the typical spot that fans see during these situations on television or during pay-per-views, Cara dropped down while pulling the top rope so Corbin would fall over. That’s what happened, but once Corbin had hit the outside floor, Cara dropped to the mat clutching at his knee or leg. He remained that way with Sami Zayn eventually getting off the mat and coming over to hit a convincing elbow to him. From there, a referee started to check on Cara until it was realized he was hurt.

A video of the incident emerged and was posted on Twitter showing exactly what happened. It’s an unfortunate situation for Sin Cara, real name Jorge Arias, as he’s been injury-prone over the years. So far, there’s been no word from WWE on their website or elsewhere with regards to the severity of his injury. There was also a possible Nia Jax injury over the past weekend in England, making it a rough past few days for both of WWE’s brands.
Sin Cara moved over to SmackDown in the “Superstar Shake-up” and debuted there back in May with a loss to Dolph Ziggler. The 40-year-old superstar recently was featured in a match against Corbin on SmackDown Live and even had a backstage interview discussing the importance of his mask. With this injury, it could very well have taken him out of this recent story and could make him less visible in the WWE going forward.
