Netflix has finally released the Orange is the New Black Season 3 trailer, and by the looks of it, fans will not be disappointed.
According to the New York Daily News , Netflix unveiled the new trailer on Thursday, April 9, making fans even more anxious for the show’s return on June 12.
Larry Bloom, Piper’s ex-fiancé played by Jason Biggs, and the corrupt corrections officer George Mendez (aka Pornstache), played by Pablo Schreiber, will not be returning.
As the Inqiusitr previously reported , Biggs has been a part of the cast since the first season. He played the role of Larry Bloom, Piper Chapman’s (Taylor Schilling) fiancé. The characters later broke up when Piper went to prison for being a part of a drug cartel, and Piper reunited with her ex-girlfriend Alex Vause (Laura Prepon). During the second season, Larry starts a new relationship with Piper’s best friend Polly (Maria Dizzia), effectively ending his engagement with Piper.
“They’re not focusing on Larry at the moment,” Biggs said during an interview when the announcement was made that he would not be returning in February of 2015. “Larry will not be in Season 3, but there’s always a possibility he can come back.”
Schreiber’s absence will be in part of his new role on a series called The Brink and his character being imprisoned on Orange is the New Black .
“I’m a series regular now on a show called The Brink on HBO. But his [Pornstache’s] mother is making an appearance on season three,” Pablo told Vulture .

While Biggs and Schreiber will not be reprising their roles in Season 3, there are several new characters who are heading to Litchfield including Lolly (Lori Petty), whom Piper met when she was sent to a different prison in Season 2. Veteran actress Mary Steenburgen will be joining the cast and will be playing the role of Pornstache’s mother.
“Mary Steenburgen has been cast as my mom. I’m not sure what she’ll do that will advance the Pornstache plotline, but for now, Mendez is in prison, biding his time,” he added.
Laura Prepon’s character, Alex Vausse, wasn’t seen much in Season 2, but promises to make a comeback in Season 3. Judging by the trailer, Alex’s and Piper’s relationship should be a focal point for the drama.
“It sucked because [show creator] Jenji Kohan and I wanted me to be in it more, but with the schedule, it didn’t happen. I was so bummed out. But I handled it, so I’m in every [episode] in season three. It is so good.”
