Journalist and commentator Megyn Kelly has opened up about how she is dealing with menopause, an inevitable milestone. The 55-year-old podcast host may have found relief from frustrating menopause symptoms through hormone replacement therapy (HRT), also called menopause hormone therapy (MHT).
“I’m doing HRT, and I love it,” Kelly said on The Megyn Kelly Show on SiriusXM while speaking with Josh Duhamel, star of Bandit and co-founder of wellness brand Gatlan Health. “It’s solved so many issues I didn’t realize were hormone-related, like having really annoying dry eyes—and now that’s gone,” she added.
Menopause typically occurs between the ages of 45 and 55, with an average age of 52. It is defined as the point when a woman has not had a menstrual period for one year. If it occurs before age 40, it is considered premature menopause. Common symptoms include hot flashes, mood changes, depression, and insomnia.
Kelly also discussed hormonal changes in the female body with Josh Duhamel. He revealed that testosterone replacement therapy is his “dirty little secret” for staying young, energetic, and active.
“I have young kids,” Duhamel, 53, said, referring to his 12-year-old son, Axl, and 2-year-old son, Shepherd. “I want to be able to roll around in the dirt with them for as long as possible.”

According to the Cleveland Clinic, HRT can be highly effective for women with severe menopause symptoms. Research shows it can relieve hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, itching, and burning. It may also help prevent bone loss, improve sleep, and ease mood changes.
“You feel better. You look better. Your skin is better. You feel more vibrant,” Kelly said. “The brain fog—there are so many benefits.” The Illinois native added, “But people don’t like to talk about it because it feels like a sign of getting older.”
However, Duhamel reassured Kelly, saying,
“Yeah, well, you look amazing, Megyn. If anyone is the perfect poster child for HRT, it’s you. You look incredible.”

The North Dakota native co-founded the wellness brand GATLAN. The company’s website outlines Duhamel’s personal journey, noting he was initially hesitant to discuss testosterone treatments, hair growth procedures, and other interventions as a public figure.
Furthermore, hormone therapy (HT) and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) are often used interchangeably in menopause treatment, though there are slight differences. Hormone therapy (HT) is a broader term that can include treatments not limited to menopause. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT), however, specifically refers to replacing hormones the body no longer produces.
A person’s age and overall health play a major role in determining eligibility for treatment.
