President Donald Trump has clearly heard enough about the alleged kidnapping of Savannah Guthrie’s mom, Nancy Guthrie. The 84-year-old has been missing since February 1, when a masked man was caught on her Nest camera on the front porch of her Tucson, Arizona, home.
Savannah Guthrie is a host on NBC’s Today show, but has been staying with the family in Arizona while hoping Nancy will be home soon.
However, as the search continues, Trump has slammed the investigators for revealing the high-tech FBI “sniffer” being used to try and track Nancy’s pacemaker. He was shocked to hear authorities tell the media about flying a Pima County Sheriff’s Department helicopter, fitted with the high-tech equipment.
Trump told reporters on Thursday that it is time to pay attention to “other subjects” following weeks of national fixation on the alleged kidnapping story.
“I didn’t like when they talked about going after the pacemaker before they even started going after it,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Georgia.
“If in fact they could do it that way, the person would say, ‘Well, I’m not going to let that happen.’ I can’t imagine why they would have done that, just in terms of strategy.”
“We have to start reporting on other subjects also and see what happens. It’s a very sad situation,” Trump added.
Meanwhile, as the trail to finding Nancy goes cold, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has faced criticism. For one thing, he was slammed for using a private lab in Florida to test a glove found near Nancy’s house featuring an unknown individual’s DNA. It was thought that it would have been better to send it to a potentially faster FBI lab.
Sgt. Aaron Cross is president of the Pima County Deputies Organization, a labor union that represents employees of the Sheriff’s office is also criticizing the Sheriff. “It is a common belief in this agency that this case has become an ego case for Sheriff Nanos,” he said, rather than handing it over to the FBI.
While the FBI has assisted in the case, it hasn’t taken over the investigation, as this would require their assertion that a federal offense may have been committed. Moreover, it isn’t clear whether local or federal law enforcement had leaked the details of the Bluetooth “sniffer” which Fox News first reported Saturday. However, an FBI official did subsequently say that “sophisticated FBI technology” was being used.
While Trump is getting irritated about the attention the story is receiving, he did tell the Post on Monday that he wants Guthrie’s abductors to face the death penalty if Nancy is not returned alive.
I absolutely believe the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping is a tragic, newsworthy story that warrants daily coverage and my heart aches for the family. But the conspiracy theorist in me is starting to think Trump abducted her to crowd out Epstein Files coverage. pic.twitter.com/iRvpjms0O4

Meanwhile, though the story of missing Nancy Guthrie is tragic, some X (formerly Twitter) users have their own theories, like this one who claims the whole thing is a distraction from the Epstein files.
