Donald Trump‘s confidence levels seem to reach another whole new level. On Thursday, June 27,  Trump claimed, without offering evidence, that Democrats were responsible for leaking classified information about America’s attack on Iranian nuclear sites under Operation Midnight Hammer.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “The Democrats are the ones who leaked the information on the PERFECT FLIGHT to the Nuclear Sites in Iran. They should be prosecuted.”

Trump had initially praised the strikes as a total success, saying the sites were “obliterated,” and even posted an update on Truth Social praising B-2 bomber pilots involved in a recent strike on Iran. In the original message, the 79-year-old wrote, “The GREAT B-2 pilots have landed safely in Missouri. Thank you for a job well done!!!”

As per reports, reality seems to be different from what Trump has convinced people to believe. The leaked Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) report suggested the damage may have been less significant, possibly only delaying Iran’s nuclear program by a few months.  Donald Trump is reportedly angry, and he accused the media of downplaying the impact and announced a restriction on the sharing of classified information with Congress, thereby sparking backlash from Democratic lawmakers.

Senators were briefed on the strikes. Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) criticized Trump for being “deliberately misleading” those who did not follow the news because they felt it was too much information for them to take in, Donald Trump launched an attack on Tehran’s key nuclear sites this weekend, joining Israel in the most significant Western military action against the Islamic Republic since its 1979 revolution last week.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. Iranian time, U.S. Navy submarines launched over two dozen Tomahawk cruise missiles at the Isfahan nuclear site, followed by two other significant places.

Later, the 79-year-old assured on social media that intended destructions were done. Original reports, as per the European intelligence, Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium was relatively unaffected, as it wasn’t stored at the targeted sites.

Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth defended the operation, rejecting the leaked DIA assessment as “low confidence.” He cited CIA Director John Ratcliffe, who said more current intelligence shows Iran’s program was severely set back and may take years to rebuild. Meanwhile, the FBI is now investigating the source of the leak, but no names have been publicly disclosed, nor has a direct link to any political party been confirmed.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the leak may have come from the intelligence community or Capitol Hill and emphasized that whoever is responsible “should be held accountable.” Other leaders, such as Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), Vice Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, have dismissed Donald Trump’s random claim. Still, he slammed the administration for carelessness and for inconsistently handling sensitive information.

While on paper, Operation Midnight Hammer seemed like a massive success, the reality now paints a different picture. Is this yet another PR move for Donald Trump to gain attention and make headlines, or do things truly need to be taken care of? Time will reveal the honest answer. From what we know, the tension seems to be far from over.
