Kevin and Wendy Wilson have been together for 21 years and married for 18. The couple, who had four children together, recently learnt that they both have cancer. Wendy was previously diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 and had a double mastectomy in 2017, as mentioned by their GoFundMe page.

Unfortunately Wendy recently came to know that her cancer has recurred. Talking about the same, she told Wendy told NBC affiliate WSFA, “I’ve had ovarian, cervical and breast cancer, and then, this time, with breast cancer.”

Meanwhile, Kevin got diagnosed with his first cancer as Wendy told WSFA, “He was told that he has stage 4 prostate cancer, and then, within a week later, I was told that my breast cancer had come back for a second time.”

Wendy’s cancer this time is stage 4 like his husband as it has spread to different parts of her body, as she mentioned. Their GoFundMe page states that they are “the kind of people who give without asking, who love without limits, and who never stop fighting for their family.” Wendy mentioned that whatever strength they have for fighting comes from their family only.

While the condition in itself is a huge tragedy, what adds to the couple’s plight is the fact that they have four children who are growing up. Wendy said, “I’m not done seeing them graduate high school, or continue the legacy of us. So, that’s my strength: showing them that no matter what you’re faced with, you have to meet it head on and do the best you can, and if you can’t you’re going to go down fighting.”

Their youngest daughter Savannah mentioned that her parents can now use all the help they can get and urged people to contribute as much as they can. She further added, “Anything can turn bad quickly. No matter what you have going on, always check on your family and your loved ones.”

Given the kind of people Kevin and Wendy are, they are still working even after their diagnosis and as mentioned by their fundraiser, are “still trying to keep their lives steady while the ground beneath them keeps shifting.”

They have also decided that they will be sharing their journey on the TikTok account @ourcancerbattle. Wendy said in her first TikTok, “We are doing a little video diary type thing for our family and anybody to bring awareness and let everybody know how we’re doing along the way.”

She further added, “Cancer sucks. If you ever come to Millbrook, Alabama, don’t drink the Kool-Aid, ‘cause there’s gotta be something in the water.” As they have pledged for help, it now remains to be seen how they navigate this difficult journey together.
