Who knew that the former Canadian Prime Minister could look like JD Vance! Yes, you read it right. Justin Trudeau, who has made some unusual styling choices during his term as the leader of Canada, is now once again making headlines. He might have retired from his political career.

However, he still has the ability to create buzz with his looks, especially when someone could mistake him for another North American politician.

It was during the 2021 G7 summit when Trudeau was spotted sporting a bristly face, quite uncharacteristic for him. If his hair wasn’t longer than Vance’s, many could have mistaken him for the American Vice President. Since he’s usually staying clean-shaven, many were shocked to see how he looked with a beard.

Luna Viola, a popular makeup artist and hairstylist, explained how hair plays an important role in defining one’s personality, face, and aura. “Hair can definitely change people’s appearances by strategically framing the face, highlighting or minimizing the features, [and] adding a youthful or mature look,” the expert told The List.

In Trudeau’s case, it was indeed his hair that saved him from being compared to JD Vance. Viola advised that it’s always best to consult with a professional about what hairstyle suits you the best without taking away your own charm and transforming you into a new person you may not like.

“Face shape, hair type, and lifestyle are taken into consideration for the best [advice] on a style that will complement the face as well as maintenance. An expert will also assess the skin color and makeup routine if the change involves a new hair coloring.”

Speaking with the outlet, the expert added, “It is advised to complement the makeup to match the new hair if going darker or lighter.” Viola added that while it could be exciting trying out new hairstyles, for high-profile people like Justin, it is always recommended to find the best style so that they don’t lose their own identity.

Years before he became the prime minister of Canada, Trudeau looked quite different. Instead of his clean-shaved face, he made appearances with his jawline covered in a graying beard. Although his mustache and soul patch retained some of their original brownish hues, Justin still looked quite different.

At first glance, anybody could have taken him for Vance, and according to the hairstylist, it was indeed his long locks that made the difference.

Here are some snaps of Trudeau.

The beard had a political significance for Trudeau. According to VICE, it was his way of embracing his “white-ness”.
