JD Vance has made headlines numerous times for his fashion choices but unfortunately, those have mostly been for the wrong reasons. From accusations of copying his style from fellow politicians to being ridiculed for wearing eyeliners, the fashion journey of JD Vance refuses to go well.
Therefore, it is actually quite surprising to see Benson Boone thinking of giving Vance’s style of eyeliners a try at the American Music Awards 2025. Despite the eyeliner look of Vance generating a lot of buzz on social media, it was mainly negative ones and the same happened for the singer as well.
The green attire that Benson Boone had picked for the AMA 2025 already did not go well with the netizens. With this, when he paired Vance’s style of eyeliners, things only got worse. However, Boone’s purple and pink attire that he wore for his performance did better than his Red Carpet look and while did not completely salvage the situation, it did help him win some brownie points as his signature flips on stage also drew applause.
The internet however, is a cruel place and naturally netizens made a day out of Boone’s fashion disaster. Even his performance on stage seemed to be taking the hits for how he was judged based on his choice of clothing and style.
One user uploaded a video of him on X, as he turned the TV off when Boone’s performance started and captioned it, “The only way to watch Benson Boone’s performance”.

Another user poked fun at Boone’s Red Carpet look as he compared the singer’s look to Little Lad from the Berries and Cream Starburst commercial from 2007. As reported by The List, “Not even Boone’s impressive acrobatics were safe from ridicule, with a number of individuals on X poking fun at that as well. Some of these posts felt more humorous than mean-spirited, at least, with one user implying that Boone’s presence at the AMAs reminded them of the notorious, ‘Back at it again at Krispy Kreme’ Vine, in which a man performs a gymnastics routine inside of a Krispy Kreme restaurant, accidentally kicking down an overhead sign in the process.”
However, Boone also found his supporters as one user on X posted, “Gonna be so honest I will never understand why people s*** so much on Benson Boone.” The person further added, “Man’s got an incredible voice and gives 110% when he performs. Fine if his music isn’t to your taste but you can’t tell me that he’s not INSANELY talented like WOOOOOOW.”

While his attire did backfire, Boone’s fans and other viewers were clearly impressed with his songs and performance, with some even calling the hate he was facing rather “forced.”
