Thousands of people get cosmetic surgeries every year to enhance their faces and bodies. The trend may have become popular among celebrities, but it has now found its way even with common people. Many even get their procedures done in Turkey as it’s less expensive. Getting a facelift, rhinoplasty, breast augmentation, and BBL is not uncommon now.

Plastic surgery may give a person the desired appearance, but it does come with risks. As people have gotten more informed and do their research beforehand, a Reddit thread asking the experts about the most dangerous procedure has come up. Plastic surgeons responded with several surgeries such as buccal fat removal, eyebrow lift, and face fillers. However the most common one was BBL–Brazilian b—tt lift.

It’s a procedure to enhance the appearance and shape of the hips. Celebrities like Cardi B, SZA, and Iggy Azalea have gotten it done. It is a popular procedure, but surgeons say it’s not worth the risk, as reported by Metro. One of them stated it has a high mortality rate, and the recovery process is quite brutal, as per BBC. A nurse said people can form blood clots, get sepsis, and the fat may even travel to the bloodstream.

One surgeon went ahead and said it has its own autopsy technique. Usually fat is taken from the thighs and abdomen to be injected into the butt. But it is very risky as you have to inject it between the skin and muscle or directly into the muscle. A huge risk here is accidentally injecting it into the veins. This will lead to the lungs being filled with fat and eventually cause death.

Several other risks, such as fat embolism, skin discoloration, bruising, and anesthesia complications, may also occur. So much suffering just to get that big butt.

This is Destiny. She passed away from complications of Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) at a hospital in Lagos. She was just 20 years old. 4 days after the procedure, she was said to have developed difficulty in breathing.

BBL has the highest mortality rate, with 1 in 4000 procedures leading to death. Many surgeons have told people to skip this one procedure. Even SZA has admitted that she should not have gotten it done, as it was not even necessary. Kim Kardashian also had BBL, but in recent years, she has focused on working out and getting rid of her BBL to look smaller.

It’s good that celebs have woken up to the reality of this trend and are not promoting it. Apart from celebrities, influencers have also caused body image issues among people to get such surgeries, which is unnecessary and dangerous to their health.

So, if you are planning to get a BBL, it may be time to rethink your decision. Instead, you may join a gym, build glutes, and eat right. Working with a professional trainer may help you get the dream body minus the surgery risks. The process will be gradual, but many fitness enthusiasts prove that it’s possible.
