Rumors of complications in Donald Trump and Melania’s marriage have been floating for the last many years. Several media reports have previously claimed Melania’s desire to part ways with her billionaire husband. However, since the concerned parties have never opened up about troubles in their marriage, the rumors die down, only to resurface again.
The rumors were once again fueled this week when journalist and author Michael Wolff recently claimed that Melania and Donald Trump are “separated”. Wolff, who has published several books on Trump, including this year’s ‘All or Nothing: How Trump Recaptured America’, appeared on The Daily Beast podcast on Tuesday.
Responding to reports that Melania Trump has been absent from the White House, he said, “They clearly do not in any way inhabit a marriage as we define marriage.”
He further added, “And I think maybe we can more specifically say they live separate lives. They are separated. The president of the United States and the first lady are separated.”
His statement spread like wildfire in the media and across social media platforms with many people believing it to be true. However, the White House has now reacted to the viral claims by the author.
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung slammed Wolff for spreading false claims about the President and the First Lady. In a statement to The Independent, Cheung called Wolff “a blithering idiot” while adding that he has been “widely discredited due to his blatant lies and fabrications.”

Further taking a dig at the author, Cheung said, “He is an imbecile of the highest order and his Trump Derangement Syndrome-addled brain has caused him to lead a miserable existence devoid of reality.”
In February, Cheung called Wolff a “lying sack of s–t” in a statement to The Daily Beast. The attack came after Wolff quoted several “insiders” in his latest book claiming that Melania “f—— hates” Donald Trump. He also claimed that Trump was scared of dying in Jeffrey Epstein’s plane after finding out that his staff had rented a jet that had once belonged to Epstein, who claimed to be Trump’s “closest friend.”

Rubbishing the claims, Cheung said, “Michael Wolff is a lying sack of s–t and has been proven to be a fraud. He routinely fabricates stories originating from his sick and warped imagination, only possible because he has a severe and debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted his peanut-sized brain.”
Wolff’s books on Trump include ‘Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House’, ‘Siege: Trump under Fire’, ‘Landslide: The Final Days of the Trump Presidency’, ‘All or Nothing: How Trump Recaptured America’. Trump personally slammed Wolff”s latest book, calling it ‘Fake Job’.
On February 24, 2025, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “So-called ‘Author’ Michael Wolff’s new book is a total FAKE JOB, just like the other JUNK he wrote. He called me many times trying to set up a meeting, but I never called him back because I didn’t want to give him the credibility of an interview.”
“Wolff says he has sources, but he doesn’t have them, it’s a LIE, as is the case with many so-called “journalists.” If he has sources, let them be revealed. Watch, it will never happen. He is FAKE NEWS, a total LOSER, and no one should waste their time or money in buying this boring and obviously fictitious book,” Trump further added.
