Jennifer Lopez’s much-anticipated remake of Kiss of the Spider Woman will make its world premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, adding to more thrill and excitement surrounding the event’s lineup. The Sundance Institute revealed the festival’s complete roster on December 11, spotlights projects from Hollywood heavyweights such as Lopez, Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Colman, A$AP Rocky, and many more. The stage is all set for the festival to take place in Park City, Utah, running from January 23 to February 2, 2025.
Produced by Lopez’s ex-husband Ben Affleck and his longtime collaborator Matt Damon, Kiss of the Spider Woman reimagines Manuel Puig’s acclaimed 1976 novel. The story was first adapted into a 1985 film starring William Hurt, Raul Julia, and Sonia Braga. Hurt earned an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. It later became a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical in 1993.

In this new version, Lopez plays Ingrid Luna, a silver-screen diva and the central figure of a fantastical Hollywood musical dreamed up by one of the main characters. Diego Luna co-stars as a political prisoner who forges an unexpected friendship with his cellmate.
According to the Sundance announcement, the cellmate recounts the imagined plot of the dazzling movie-musical featuring Ingrid. It is an emotional escape from their harsh prison reality.
The 2025 Sundance Film Festival has a lot of interesting premieres lined up in the form of dramas, documentaries and world premieres and promises a lot of excitement for the audience.
Among the most anticipated ones is the dramedy If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, starring Rose Byrne as a Long Island mother who is through individual struggles. The film features a great cast, including Conan O’Brien and rapper A$AP Rocky.
