Brazilian Teen Murders Family, Goes To School, Then Commits Suicide

São Paulo — A Brazilian teenager murdered his family before spending a full day at school and then committing suicide.

Marcelo Pesseghini killed his parents, Luiz and Andreia Pesseghini, his grandmother, Benedita de Oliveira Bovo, and his great aunt, Bernadete Oliveira da Silva. All four suffered gunshot wounds to the head. Pesseghini is thought to have used his father’s police issue service revolver.

The 13-year-old then went to school and was caught on camera calmly walking home later in the day. He was later found dead from a gunshot wound to the temple. The revolver was found nearby, and a.32 caliber revolver was found in his backpack.

The five bodies were found before dawn Tuesday. Police said the Pesseghini’s parents were killed late Sunday or early Monday.

“Everything seems to indicate that Marcelo killed his parents and relatives,” Itagiba Franco, of the São Paulo Civilian Police’s homicide department, said.

According to police, Pesseghini told an unidentified friend that he wanted to become a hitman.

“He always told me he wanted to become a hired killer. He had a plan to kill his parents during the night, so that no one would notice and escape in the parents’ car and live in an abandoned place.”

Another theory is that Pesseghini was imitating the Amityville murders. In 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. killed his parents and four siblings while they were sleeping. DeFo then went to Henry’s Bar in Amityville and said he thought his mother and father had been shot. A small group went with DeFeo to the house and found the six bodies. DeFeo was taken to the police station for his own protection after he claimed the family had been killed by a mob hitman named Tony Mazzeo. DeFeo later confessed to the murders.

Marcelo Pesseghini uploaded a photo of the “Amityville Ghost Boy” to his Facebook page just before Christmas last year.

Police commander Benedito Roberto Meira ruled out “an act of revenge by a criminal group” against Luis and Andreia Pesseghini.
