Beanie Sigel Sentenced To Prison On Drug Charges

Beanie Sigel has been sentenced to prison on drug charges.

The rapper pleaded guilty to the unlawful possession of a prescription drug. Sigel will now spend six to 23 months in prison for the crime.

Beanie Sigel was arrested last August after police found the musician asleep behind the wheel of his car. Once officers woke him up they discovered the rapper had several pills in his possession. Sigel also reportedly had around $4,500 in cash on him at the time.

In addition to several pills of Percocet, the rapper had a loaded pistol in his car. He was arrested and hit with drug and firearm charges.

While the gun charges were later dismissed, Beanie Sigel was sentenced for possessing a controlled substance.

The rapper is currently serving two years in a federal prison for tax evasion. Sigel was arrested two weeks prior to reporting for his sentence. It’s currently unknown if a judge will allow him to serve the terms concurrently.

“Mr. Grant has been a successful entertainer and musician in the Philadelphia community for decades,” Sigel’s attorney Carson Morris explained to the court. “Obviously, he’s had an incredible amount of success and opportunity in his life. He’s also made some mistakes, which have ended up putting him in custody.”

Morris added, “He has a lot of catching up to do, but he also has a lot of talent and a lot of opportunity, hopefully. So the prospect is that he can get out and move on and start doing something productive with his life.”

Beanie Sigel released his latest album This Time shortly before his arrest last August.

Sigel has released several albums since 2000. Prior to This Time, the rapper released The Broad Street Bully in 2009. He was also arrested on drug possession charge in New Jersey the same year.
