His video for "Where Are Ü Now" is a literal call out to his ex-girlfriend. In one scene in the video, the writing spells out "Where r now, Selena." Fans were too busy to focus on his dance moves to notice the messages flashing on the screen. His music video for "What Do You Mean" debuted Sunday night following the MTV Video Music Awards. However, Justin's shout-out to Selena remained unnoticed at the time. Fans were too busy talking about his emotional performance earlier that night. Justin performed both of his new singles, "Where Are Ü Now" and "What Do You Mean," which ended with the singer flying around on stage and crying at the end. That moment made fans wonder if the Biebs was crying over Selena Gomez. What was his breakdown really about? Was it because he noticed Selena wasn't in the audience? Or, was he just happy to perform after being out of the spotlight for a few years?Justin insists that he wasn't crying over Selena. In fact, the reason why he was crying was because he messed up a few of his dance steps and he was upset with himself.Still, his performance is very reminiscent of Selena Gomez's emotional performance at the 2014 American Music Awards, where she performed her hit single "The Heart Wants What It Wants." At the end of her performance, Gomez broke down into tears as she whispered "Thank you, Jesus." She also looked over to her best friend Taylor Swift, who was also crying in the audience. But it wasn't until Monday, August 31, when fans started noticing and tweeting that they noticed Selena's name in Justin's new music video. The three first letters of her name, "Sel," appear on the wall at the 3:45 mark, with the rest of the letters hidden by a skateboard ramp and skateboarder. At 4:11, the rest of the letters reveal what appears to be Selena's name. There are also rumors swirling on the internet that Selena Gomez's entire name is featured in another scene.
