WWE News: 2 Superstars Return Years After John Cena Cheating Scandal

A few weeks back, fans were reminded of an old WWE faction called the Spirit Squad that the company treated like a joke throughout their tenure in the company. Highlights included DX dropping poop on them and then shipping them back to developmental, never to be seen again.

The only person from the Spirit Squad that remained in the WWE was Nicky, who became better known as Dolph Ziggler. However, the biggest memories of the Spirit Squad included what happened behind the scenes and that involved Ken Doane, former WWE women’s champion Mickie James, and a John Cena cheating scandal.

While this incident took place many years ago, it seems surprising that within a month, both Ken Doane and Mickie James have returned to the WWE. Not only that, but Doane is on the same brand as John Cena. 411mania reported that the WWE has plans to keep Doane and the Spirit Squad tag team around and there doesn’t seem to be any problems concerning the old John Cena cheating scandal.

That incident involved the fact that Ken Doane and Mickie James were engaged to be married. That all ended swiftly when Doane said that he found out that Mickie James and John Cena were allegedly having an affair.

Ken Doane is the only person who made the John Cena cheating scandal public. Wrestling Inc reported back in 2012 that Doane went to Twitter to talk about the situation. Doane said at the time that he caught Mickie James doing a Google search for “Mickie James and John Cena dating.” When he asked her why, Ken Doane said that she broke down crying.

According to Ken Doane, when the WWE found out about the alleged John Cena cheating scandal, they sent Doane to SmackDown so that the two could continue on in peace. Then they jobbed out Doane and released him. Ken Doane then claimed that Mickie James threw a tantrum when she learned John Cena didn’t want to date her more seriously and the WWE released her as well.

This has all been about what Ken Doane has said about the John Cena cheating scandal. Cena was married at the time to his childhood sweetheart and many fans refused to believe that he could have cheated on her. However, Sportskeeda reported that John Cena filed for divorce in 2012 and his soon-to-be ex-wife said that Cena had been cheating on her through the years.

Just a few months after the John Cena divorce was finalized, Cena was dating Nikki Bella. The reports now indicate that John Cena is in a completely different world than Ken Doane, which makes sense because Ken Doane is wrestling and Cena is on the reality television show Total Bellas.

It still is interesting to look at history as Ken Doane and Mickie James are both back in the WWE. Doane and his Spirit Squad partner Mike Mondo look like they are sticking around SmackDown Live and there are reports that they will be getting a new storyline to see if they are a good fit.

Mickie James is coming to NXT and she will battle Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Takeover: Toronto. Meanwhile, John Cena can be seen on Total Bellas and is shooting the next season of American Grit before returning to the WWE around the end of 2016 or start of 2017.

Despite the fact that the John Cena cheating scandal was only told from Ken Doane’s point of view, it is fun for fans to see all three key members of the controversy in the WWE again if just to wonder what would happen if they all crossed paths once again.
