Despite the rumors of Kristen Stewart replacing Nina Dobrev on The Vampire Diaries, fans shouldn’t worry that the actress has backed out. In August, Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW told reporters that Nina’s return was still being worked out. According to TVLine, they were “in discussions.” There are rumors, but none of the big-name, reputable websites have reported an update. Although there is still no confirmation of a return, there might be another reason for the silence.
Season 8 is the last for The Vampire Diaries. The executive producers and writers want to make it the best season ever. They are bringing back a lot of familiar faces and will be closing out storylines. As reported by the Inquisitr, Dobrev made an emotional promise that she would return before the last episode. Showrunner Julie Plec explained in a Comic-Con video interview that she is doing everything she can to make sure Nina returns. However, she also said there is a backup plan just in case. Fans would be disappointed if another actress played Elena Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries. It would be unsatisfying and cheapen Elena as well as “Delena.”
When dealing with a final episode of a television show, writers want to make it memorable. What if the silence isn’t because a deal hasn’t been made? What if fans are going to be surprised by a sudden appearance by Elena Gilbert in The Vampire Diaries Season 8? Not only would it be exciting, but it could be a “shocking moment” that fans would talk about for a long time.
Theories regarding Elena in TVD include a flash forward. This would allow Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) to live a full life and reunite with Elena decades later. There is also the possibility that there is a loophole in the sleeping spell. As fans of The Vampire Diaries know, there is no such thing as “set in stone” when it comes to Mystic Falls. Some viewers believe that Elena will have to wake up in order to save Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder). However, that would mean Bonnie’s death
When Season 8 returns to The CW network, Damon and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) will still be affected by the mystery monster. They will be on a killing spree. It was teased that on the inside, Enzo will be fighting to break free. He will even leave a trail of bread crumbs for Bonnie to follow. However, don’t expect the same from Damon on The Vampire Diaries. There is a reason why he is letting the monster take over. “Delena” shippers are positive that losing Elena was just too much for Damon to handle.
Spoilers for The Vampire Diaries also claim that Bonnie will lose hope, but Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) will be determined to save his brother. However, it will not be an easy task, if it can even be done at all.
Do you think Nina Dobrev’s return is being kept a secret and fans will be surprised by her comeback in Season 8? What do you predict will happen with Elena Gilbert? Will she be the only one that can save Damon? Find out when The CW airs new episodes of The Vampire Diaries on October 21.
