Season 13 of Grey's Anatomy is only months away, and it looks like fans will get some much-needed resolution on Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo's (Camilla Luddington) relationship.
The couple's romance was left in a state of flux after the Season 12 finale. Will Jo finally come clean about why she can't marry Alex?
According to Movie Fone, the Season 13 premiere of Grey's Anatomy will pick up right where it left off with Alex and Jo.
"The season premiere picks up right where we left off, but expect the Alex and Jo storyline to play a bigger role in the season opener," Caterina Scorsone, who plays Amelia, told Entertainment Weekly.
While Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Amelia are focused on their wedding, Scorsone revealed that the majority of the drama will center on Jo's fight with Alex.
"In the first episode, it's really wedding night, so Owen and Amelia are otherwise occupied. And there's a big piece of drama going on having to do with another storyline [with Alex and Jo] that I think is going to play for a while in the season. It's very explosive, very exciting and interesting on social levels and personal character levels."The couple got in a major fight during last season's finale after Jo refused to tell Alex why she couldn't marry him.
To complicate matters even further, Jo is afraid that her abusive husband might hurt her if he found out about their marriage.
At the same time, Carter Matt is reporting that Alex's relationship with Andrew is also up in the air.
As fans will recall, the two men fought each other after Alex suspected him of getting romantically involved with Jo.
At this point, it still isn't clear if Jo will finally come clean to Alex about her former marriage.
According to Christian Today, Jo might also tell Alex that she has been using a fake identity and that Jo isn't her real name.
Will fans finally learn Jo's real name in the Season 13 premiere?
If Jo does come clean with her secrets, there is a chance that Alex will still reject her.
Of course, many fans would be thrilled if the two finally get together and work out their differences early next season instead of later.
In the meantime, Movie News Guide is reporting that filming for the upcoming season of Grey's Anatomy is currently underway.
Shonda Rhimes recently confirmed the start of production with a special video post on Twitter.
"And we are back at it for Season 13! #GreysAnatomy #Shondaland," she wrote alongside the video.
Apart from the drama between Alex and Jo, the new season will focus heavily on Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) growing relationship with Riggs (Martin Henderson).
Meredith finally found love again last season when she hooked up with Riggs. However, their romance isn't without a good deal of drama.
It isn't known when Meredith will break the news to Maggie, though it doesn't look like it will happen in the first episode of Season 13.
Fans can find out what happens to all of their favorite characters when the new season of Grey's Anatomy arrives on ABC September 22.
