Jim Carrey Expresses Sadness Over Publication Of Late Girlfriend’s Autopsy And Suicide Note

Jim Carrey is upset over the fact that the contents of his late girlfriend's autopsy report and suicide note have been made public. In a statement posted by People, Carrey said it saddens him to think that his loved ones are subject to intense media scrutiny that he is under just because they are associated with him. The actor says he didn't realize that's what he signed up for when he made it big in show business.

"When I came to Hollywood to make it as a comedian, I soon learned that the details of my private life would be handed out to the media like free dinner vouchers," Jim Carrey said in a statement. "I never dreamed that the people I love most in the world would also be on the menu. What a shame."

Jim Carrey's girlfriend, Cathriona White, overdosed on a mix of prescription medications last September. Tabloid magazines received copies of White's extensive autopsy and toxicology report which confirmed that the 30-year-old's death was a suicide after she mixed several drugs, including a beta blocker, sleep-aid and painkillers. In addition, excerpts of White's final note addressed to Carrey were also published.

TMZ posted some of the most painful excerpts from White's note to Jim Carrey, which she wrote after Carrey allegedly broke up with her.

"I've spent 3 days now in disbelief that you're not here. I can go on brokenhearted and try to put the pieces back," she reportedly wrote to Carrey. "I could, I just don't have the will this time."

White also apologized to Jim for "not being there" for him, and she addressed her impending funeral directly, telling Jim that he is her family so he could decide on what type of burial to give her. White also asked Carrey to forgive her for her actions.

After White's body was found at a home she was renting in Los Angeles, police retrieved a text on her phone from Jim Carrey, asking if she knew where his painkillers for his back injury were. Jim Carrey noted that his prescription pills were missing from his bathroom and it has been reported that Jim's medications were taken by White.

Jim Carrey dated White on and off for several years after first meeting in 2012. While the actor has been mostly quiet since the death of his former love, he released a statement to E! News shortly after her death.

"I am shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of my sweet Cathriona," Carrey said in September. "She was a truly kind and delicate Irish flower, too sensitive for this soil, to whom loving and being loved was all that sparkled. My heart goes out to her family and friends and to everyone who loved and cared about her. We have all been hit with a lightning bolt."

Sadly, Jim Carrey couldn't even grieve in private. Last October, Carrey was photographed carrying his late girlfriend's coffin during her funeral services in Ireland. Jim reportedly broke down in tears as his longtime love was laid to rest next to her father, Pat.

Jim Carrey has had several high-profile relationships with stars like Renee Zellweger and Jenny McCarthy, and their personal lives were always part of the territory because they were considered celebrity super couples. But White was a makeup artist and wasn't used to being tabloid fodder. While she worked with big name stars on movie and photo shoot sets, she didn't really sign on for the fame game—until she hooked up with Carrey, that is.
