‘True Blood’ Spinoff ‘Midnight, Texas’ Adds Cast Members

Midnight, Texas is the NBC answer to all the other networks out there with a horror TV series that is doing well in the ratings. But, NBC might just get a little jump start, given it their new series is somewhat of a spin-off from the hit HBO TV series, True Blood.

Now that the show has been ordered by the network, Midnight, Texas has been busy filling out the cast list and making way for production of the series. With the new additions to Midnight, Texas, Jason Lewis has been cast as a series regular in the show, as opposed to just being a guest star that he was originally billed for in the pilot, according to Deadline.

For those who are wondering who Jason Lewis is, anyone who has watched Sex and the City might remember him as an alum of the HBO TV series. Evidently, Lewis has been cast as a full-time cast member, following the screening of the pilot episode of Midnight, Texas, which originally cast him as a recurring guest star on the NBC show.

Never take anything for granted on a show like Midnight, Texas, which will be featuring some over the top action that will give a broadcast audience a wild ride, that is if its predecessor True Blood is any indicator.

The basic premise for the show has been adapted from the Midnight, Texas novel by best-selling author Charlaine Harris. Harris is also the author whose Sookie Stackhouse novels were the basis for the True Blood series on HBO.

What is clear right from the onset of Midnight, Texas is that the town is different from any other American town in the Southwest. It hides many dark secrets and the thought that monsters could live among us is not really foreign to those who live there. As a matter of fact, Midnight, Texas is a safe haven for monsters, such as witches, vampires, hitmen, and even psychics.

The town of Midnight, Texas has a long history of having blood on its hands, and those who live there serve to protect its secret for some unknown reason.

It is very much the same concept of True Blood, in the sense that the town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, also seemed to hide its dead bodies without anyone else around them ever knowing it. But, there was a large, thriving vampire population in and around that town, which the people knew about.

The vampires in True Blood had many of the same characteristics as those that will be appearing in Midnight, Texas. Bill Compton and Eric Northman are just a couple of them, and their characters were quite complex. It was hard for viewers to get a good read on either one of them. There were times when they were thought to be the good guys and other times when they clearly were not. As a matter of fact, Compton started the series out in a dark, mysterious kind of way. But he was eventually portrayed as a good vampire in the series, only to let all that sweet goodness melt away over the seasons.

Since Midnight, Texas seems to take place in the same basic universe, there is good reason to believe that Harris’ vampires will still have the same True Blood rules that apply to them as well, including certain characteristics.

Jason Lewis will be portraying a tattoo artist who has a strong moral complex on Midnight, Texas. But, that might have something to do with the fact that he has supernatural powers that are comparable to that of an angel.

Jason Lewis joins François Arnaud, Dylan Bruce, Parisa Fitz-Henley, Arielle Kebbel, Sarah Ramos, Peter Mensah, Yul Vazquez and, Sean Bridgers in the cast of Midnight, Texas.

There has been no word yet regarding when Midnight, Texas will premiere on NBC.
