‘Fear The Walking Dead’ Season 2 Releases New 3-Minute Teaser [Video]

Fear The Walking Dead Season 2 is right around the corner, and now, a new 3-minute video teaser has been released for the season with much too look forward to. That includes revealing just how the zombie water action is going to play out and fans get to see how much production value is being invested into FTWD.

There is also good reason to believe that even though Fear The Walking Dead Season 2 has been highly billed as a water horror adventure, there is going to be some point in the season where the survivors will be docking and making an attempt at land survival, as well.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Fear The Walking Dead showrunner Dave Erickson talked about how they set up Season 2, with the two halves giving fans the ultimate FTWD experience.

“There’s a difference between being land-bound and going from town to town and being stuck,” Erickson told THR. “The great thing about this boat is we have a wide range of places we could go and a lot of this will feed into the agendas of our characters and the things they’re keeping to themselves. It will drive a lot of the tension for the first half of the season.”

But Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead has a theme, and it is not about the water. There are many more elements to this looming apocalypse than just zombies and survival. The main question is where to find a home. How to find a safe haven and how long will they be able to stay there once the hordes of zombies on Fear The Walking Dead come crashing into their new home.

“Quality of displacement. We’ve got a group of people who have been removed from their homes and there’s a great sense of mourning and grieving,” Erickson told THR. “They’ve all lost loved ones over the course of season one and are in a fragile place. On top of that, they had to abandon Los Angeles.”

The characters on Fear The Walking Dead have indeed found themselves to be somewhat of a family, even more than today’s non-traditional form of “modern family.” But there will eventually be those cracks in the cement, those breaks and eventual fracturing in their relationships that will force the story to endure drastic consequences once it gets to the main event(s).

Erickson talks about Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead as the evolution of an apocalypse. Something that gives Fear The Walking Dead fans a real scope of how characters became the way they are now in The Walking Dead.

“We’re going to build through a rather explosive turn in the finale of the first half of the season,” Erickson said.

That’s a usual theme for The Walking Dead, and it is carrying over on Fear The Walking Dead. There are many things that the show is going to cram into those first eight episodes and just before they split for a season hiatus, they are going to give fans a good reason to return in late summer.

It is probably no surprise to fans of Fear The Walking Dead that zombies cannot actually swim, given that they have no cognitive skills but are rather driven by instinct. Erickson says that they can “wade” and described Season 2 as a bit of an experimentation with the monsters.

He also said that every episode of Season 2 of Fear The Walking Dead will feature a new port, which means that the characters will be docking many times before they are finally able to settle on land.

Fear The Walking Dead Season 2 premiers on AMC on April 10.
