Mexican Drug War Heats Up – 5 Police Killed in Coordinated Attacks


At least 8 cities in Mexico were the target of coordinated attacks by drug gangs on Police and the military.

Three Mexican Federal police and two soldiers were killed in the attacks by drug gangs. Another 18 were wounded in the onslaught. It is believed the attacks are in retaliation for the capture of Arnoldo Rueda Medina by police, a high-ranking member of the Michoacan Family drug gang.

Automatic weapons and grenades were used in the attacks of police and the military in the Mexican cities of Morelia, Zitacuaro, Zamora, Lazaro Cardenas, Apatzingan, La Piedad and Huetamo in the Pacific Coast state of Michoacan state. Acapulco was also a target, with gunfire erupting, but no injuries were reported there.
