Kate Winslet Thinks Jack Dawson Could’ve Survived, ‘Titanic’ Shippers Go Nuts

Since Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet made their debut as an on-screen couple in the 1997 film Titanic, many have argued whether or not DiCaprio’s character Jack Dawson could’ve survived from freezing to death in the ocean.

Now, actress Kate Winslet, who portrayed Rose to his Jack, has set the record straight with her opinion on the whole thing, and it’s making some fans go nuts.

The theory is that Rose could’ve shared the piece of the door she was floating on while she held on to Jack, who was submerged in freezing water after the Titanic capsized. Instead, Rose left Jack to die in the ocean, and she lived a pretty fantastic life without him.

Well, almost 20 years later and Winslet is now saying that Rose could’ve saved a spot on the door for Jack so they both could’ve survived. Winslet sat down with Jimmy Kimmel and revealed her theory.

“I think he could have actually fitted on that bit of door.”

So, while everyone is busy patting themselves on the back, the love fest between Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet is still rolling on. Most notably, the two were seen on the red carpet at the Screen Actor’s Guild award ceremony. The two were nominated respectively for their own films; DiCaprio for The Revenant and Winslet for Steve Jobs.

As the Inquisitr reported, this was probably the cutest interaction fans have seen between DiCaprio and Winslet in years. When DiCaprio won his first SAG for Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Winslet couldn’t contain herself and stood up and clapped, looking like the proudest person in the room.

The best part is after DiCaprio finished hugging everyone at his table, he went back to hug his good friend Kate, who looked like she was about to knock him over out of pure joy. The two even shared a quick smooch at that moment, before Leo went off to collect his award.

It was a moment that was saved and gif’d for everyone to reuse. Here’s what it looked like in still image form.

Of course, these two have a history of being cute together. Even during her own moment at the Golden Globes award, Winslet said she was shocked because she’s been so focused on Leonardo DiCaprio finally taking it all, despite her co-star Michael Fassbender being nominated against Leo in most, if not all award shows leading up to the Oscars.

“To be honest with you, [it was] because I’ve been so focused on Leo and him winning everything and being so excited for him. Also there were other actress who have floated in and out of the supporting category but other consistent nominees have been Alicia Vikander, Rooney Mara, and I just thought ‘One of those girls is surely going to win, and I’m absolutely not going to win this,’ so I was genuinely, extremely shocked.”

In addition to the 1997 blockbuster, DiCaprio and Winslet starred in the film, Revolutionary Road, together. In the same year, Winslet went on to win her Oscar for the film, The Reader.
