‘Vikings’ Season 4: New Image Reveals A Character With A Dramatic New Haircut

Will Ragnar Lothbrok have more romance woes in season 4 of Vikings? It seems the latest image released by History Channel could indicate as such by showing Ragnar standing with his current wife on one side and the new character of Yidu on the other.

Recently A&E released a batch of new images for the upcoming season 4 of Vikings which will premiere on February 18. Among the images was one of new character, Yidu. Dianne Doan will play the role of Yidu, an oriental slave that captures the attention of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel). It is predicted Yidu will play a love interest to Ragnar — even though is still married to his second wife, Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland).

Season 3 of Vikings saw Ragnar’s wife, Aslaug, have an affair with Harbard, a character that is set to return to Vikings according to a Zap2It interview with the actor who played him, Kevin Durand. Could the tables be turned on Aslaug in season 4 of Vikings? Could Ragnar grow tired with Aslaug once he sets sight on the woman of an ethnicity he has never seen before? Although, for Ragnar, this would not be the first time he has strayed from one of his wives, having met Aslaug during his marriage to his first wife, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick). This meeting resulted in Aslaug becoming pregnant and her arriving on Ragnar and Lagertha’s doorstep, a move that led to Lagertha leaving her husband. So, if Ragnar is to have an affair with Yidu in season 4 of Vikings, just how will Aslaug react to it considering how she first met him?

According to Pop Sugar, who first released the latest image of Yidu, she will be someone who “fascinates Ragnar because she is from a different culture.” All we know about Yidu so far is that she is a slave from the East who somehow ends up in Kattegat. The most recent Vikings image of Yidu to surface, however, suggests there could be conflict between Aslaug and Yidu with both women standing in front of Ragnar. The image itself does not give much away about the upcoming Vikings storyline involving these three characters. Something interesting to note though is the comparison between Yidu’s newest photo and that of the one released last week.

It appears that at some point during season 4 of Vikings, Yidu gets a drastic haircut. Gone are her long locks, and in place is a shorter hairstyle that isn’t at all indicative of the times. Something else to note is the clothes she is wearing. Does the red outfit suggest a change in Yidu’s status? Especially considering she is standing alongside Aslaug, almost as if she is considered her equal in Ragnar’s eyes. It will be fascinating to see how Yidu’s story unfolds in season 4 of Vikings.

It will be interesting to see just why Yidu cuts her hair in Vikings — does it have something to do with Aslaug, does she have an accident or does Yidu just decide to cut her hair on a whim? Only tuning into season 4 of Vikings in February will reveal all.
