Drake’s OVO Crew Responds To Meek Mill’s ‘Back To Back’ Diss, Slams Rapper For Remixing Track

Drake may be neglecting to comment on Meek Mill’s remix of his chart-topping “Back To Back” diss record, but it appears that one of Drake’s OVO crew members is finally speaking out about Meek Mill’s decision to remix the heated track.

While Drake was busy ringing in the New Year with a star-studded performance in Miami, Meek Mill opted to host a listening party for his highly anticipated Dreamchasers 4 mixtape in his native Philadelphia on Friday.

One partygoer was able to obtain several snippets of Meek Mill’s new music, one of which reportedly includes a remix of Drake’s infamous “Back To Back” diss track that was released just days after Meek publicly accused Drake of requiring a ghostwriter to help pen some of his most famous tracks.

In one video, Meek Mill can be heard rapping over the beat to “Back To Back,” while another clip shows Meek Mill referencing yet another Drake track, “I’m The Plug,” which appears on Drake’s What A Time To Be Alive mixtape that dropped last year.

While fan reactions to Meek Mill’s “Back To Back” freestyle have been mixed, it looks like one of Drakes’ OVO songwriters isn’t too pleased with Meek’s decision to sample two of Drake’s tracks for his upcoming Dreamchasers 4 mixtape.

OVO Hush, who is one of Drake’s songwriting collaborators, took to Twitter on Sunday to diss Meek Mill’s decision to rap over Drake’s track rather than penning a new song in response to their ongoing feud.

“Good thing Nas dropped Ether instead of a Takeover Remix. #GOAT,” OVO Hush wrote on his Twitter account while referencing Jay Z and Nas’ historic rap battle, Hot New Hip Hop reports.

While some feel that Meek Mill should have written his own beat in order to respond to Drake’s “Back To Back” diss, other fans have expressed their anticipation for hearing the remainder of Meek Mill’s freestyle, especially given that Meek also references Drake’s ongoing feud with Chris Brown in his lyrics.

In one line from Meek Mill’s remix, the Philly rapper can be heard saying, “We was in the club we was getting it cracking / Ducking Chris Brown you was missing in action.”

Meek Mill’s lyrics seemingly references Drake and Chris Brown’s infamous 2012 NYC nightclub brawl that reportedly began after the duo got into a heated exchange over Drake’s rumored romance with Rihanna.

While Chris Brown’s team maintains that Drake was the one who started the dispute, which later resulted in several injured partygoers after members of both Drake and Brown’s team began throwing glass bottles at one another, Drake’s rep later released a statement in regard to the incident while denying the “Hotline Bling” rapper’s involvement in the fight.

A rep for Drake explained to the Huffington Post that Drake was “leaving the nightclub when a fight erupted between Chris Brown and other partygoers” before explaining that Drake “did not engage in activity that resulted in injury to a person or property.”

The statement against Drake’s alleged involvement in the brawl seemingly supports Meek Mill’s accusations of Drake “ducking” his on-again, off-again feud with Chris Brown, although neither Drake nor Brown have spoken out about the reference in Meek Mill’s remix.

While no official word yet exists regarding a tentative release date for Meek Mill’s new mixtape, Drake recently teased that his Views From the 6 album will be coming “very soon.”

During his NYE bash in Miami, Drake closed out his performance by thanking the crowd while ensuring them that Views would be arriving imminently.

Currently, rumors of a release date for Drake’s new album point towards a January release, although Drake has not personally confirmed those rumors.
