Lamar Odom Update: Former NBA Star Continues To Struggle, Can’t Walk Or Remember Name?

Lamar Odom remains hospitalized over two months after he was found unconscious at a legal brothel in Las Vegas, and sadly, he continues to struggle with his recovery. According to the latest report, via NBC Sports on December 18, the former NBA star is “not doing well,” and forgets his name at times.

Lamar Odom was discovered unconscious at Dennis Hof’s Love Ranch on October 13, and ever since, he has been fighting for a full recovery. However, after awaking from a coma days later, he has faced a number of setbacks, including physical and verbal limitations, as well as organ failure. Although Lamar Odom’s friends and family, including wife Khloe Kardashian, have been at his side throughout his medical crisis, Lamar Odom may have long-lasting effects from his drug overdose.

A short while ago, as revealed by Entertainment Tonight earlier this week, Kardashian claimed Lamar Odom could be fully recovered mentally in a year and a half, but according to another source, he likely won’t be back to his old self for a while.

“[Lamar Odom]’s not doing great,” the source said on December 14. “His speech is still slurred and he can barely walk on his own yet. He forgets a lot of people’s names — sometimes even his own. He definitely has some memory loss.”

As Kardashian promoted her new book, Strong Looks Better Naked, last month, she spoke with The Insider, via Entertainment Tonight, revealing Lamar Odom was “having trouble processing” the events that followed his overdose.

Immediately after news broke of Lamar Odom’s hospitalization, his wife, Kardashian, boarded a private jet to Las Vegas, and didn’t leave his side until the following week when he was transferred, via medical helicopter, to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in West Hollywood, California. Lamar Odom’s children, as well as their mother, Liza Morales, also traveled to Las Vegas to visit with him, but thus far, it is unclear whether or not they’ve been to Cedars-Sinai.

When asked if Lamar Odom was appreciative of her dedication and ongoing support as he recovers, Kardashian explained, “I don’t know if he can right now. Like, I don’t know if he fully understands everything, but I know he is grateful… and I’m not doing it for validation. I’m not doing it to get praise back.”

“He’s doing better every day, for sure, which is a blessing, but it’s going to be a long road and he has to walk that road,” Kardashian added to Entertainment Tonight last month. “It’s going to be a long time.”

While it is unknown whether or not Lamar Odom’s children have visited him in Los Angeles since his October arrival, a source told Us Weekly they are planning to fly to the west coast from New York City where they live to celebrate the upcoming Christmas holiday with their father. In addition, claimed the magazine’s source, Lamar Odom could leave the hospital soon. Although an exact date for his possible release was not given, the source noted that he would soon be relocated to a rehabilitation center where he will continue his care.

“[Lamar Odom] is supposed to be moved to the rehab center any day now. He’s actually making progress every day.”

Since Lamar Odom’s hospitalization, there has been just a couple of photos of the former professional athlete, all of which were taken while he was en route to Los Angeles from Las Vegas.
