Ron Perlman Tipped To Play Swamp Thing In ‘Justice League Dark’

Ron Perlman is apparently going to put on some more prosthetic makeup soon. According to Movie Pilot, there are rumors circulating around the web that Ron Perlman could join Justice League Dark as Swamp Thing.

With the release date of DC’s Justice League Dark yet to be announced, and the production beginning next year, official news from Warner Bros. is beginning to emerge along with rumors regarding the director and cast of the upcoming supernatural superhero movie.

With Guillermo del Toro originally named the director for Justice League Dark, Warner Bros. officially made a decision to go with another director, since del Toro is already exhausted with the studio over casting and scheduling, according to Movie Pilot. However, del Toro has finished the screenplay.

Brendon Breese, the director of Moneyball, Ant-Man and Rise of the Planet of the Apes has been officially announced as director of Justice League Dark, and Ron Perlman could be joining the movie as Swamp Thing. While the rumors are yet to be confirmed by Warner Bros., it would make sense for the company to reach out to Perlman, since he is more than familiar with prosthetic makeup.

The 65-year-old actor is known for his characters Hellboy, and the half-man, half-beast Vincent in Beauty and the Beast, both of which required Ron Perlman to put lots of makeup on. It seems that it may be no different with Swamp Thing, if the Sons of Anarchy actor is truly cast in Justice League Dark.

Apart from Ron Perlman, other big-name movie stars have been rumored to join the superhero movie. It was reported that Colin Farrell could portray the dark magician John Constantine, Ewan McGregor could play Jason Blood or The Demon, while Monica Bellucci would play the role of mystic fortune teller Madame Xanadu.

As for the role of Zatana, DC is reportedly looking for a black or Latina actress, with rumors saying it could be Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez, while The Dark Knight Rises star Ben Mendelsohn is tipped to play the villain Anton Arcane. DC has yet to debunk or confirm any of the rumors. Regarding the Ron Perlman rumor, fans predict that there is a good chance the rumors could be true, since not that many actors have such a vast experience with portraying characters like Swamp Thing, who is basically not a human nor a plant.

With the rumors that Ron Perlman could be joining Justice League Dark, fans have already started wondering what the actor would look like if he’s cast as Swamp Thing, according to Comic Book.

Justice League Dark fans already have a raw idea of how Ron Perlman could look portraying Swamp Thing in the movie.

Justice League Dark is like Justice League, which features Aquaman, Batman, the Flash, Green Lantern, the Martian Manhunter, Superman, and Wonder Woman, but instead of these characters, it includes DC Comics’ best supernatural heroes: Swamp Thing, Constantine, Zatanna, and Deadman.

It was recently reported that Ron Perlman has been cast as Al Braverman in The Bleeder, the movie that includes Liev Schreiber – star of Ray Donovan – portraying heavyweight fighter Chuck Wepner, as reported by Deadline.

Ron Perlman’s character is the manager who trains Wepner for a title fight with Muhammad Ali, who is portrayed by Pooch Hall. Hall is Schreiber’s co-star on Ray Donovan. The cast of the boxing movie also includes Naomi Watts, Jim Gaffigan, Elisabeth Moss, Michael Rapaport and Morgan Spector.

Philippe Falardeau was announced as The Bleeder‘s director, while the screenplay was written by Jeff Feuerzeig, Jerry Stahl and Michael Cristofer. Schreiber is also set to produce the movie along with Carl Hampe, Mike Tollin, Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman. Jeff Rice is the executive producer.
