Birthday Cake: Mandy’s Happy Birthday Cake Goes Viral

A new photo of a birthday cake has gone viral because of the sweet message behind it. If you look at the cake, you would think that they didn’t do a very good job, but it turns out the girl who made the cake did the best job she could do and was thrilled to get to decorate this cake. CNN shared about the birthday cake and what happened to make this cake post go viral on social networks.

Lisa Aldrich posted to Facebook about the cake that she picked up at the local grocery store. Normally, if a post of a birthday cake goes viral then it is not a good thing, but this one has a very touching story behind it. Aldrich shared exactly what happened and why her cake looks like it does.

“Picked out a cake at Meijer. Asked bakery-looking-employee if she could write on it for me. She said she would, and after a long time, she came and presented me with this cake. I looked her In the eye and said thank you before I even looked at the cake. After looking, I nervously laughed and headed to check out- it didn’t really matter to me that it looked so bad- I thought people would think it was funny. The cashiers at the self check out didn’t think it was so funny though, and called a few more cashiers and a manager over to look, even taking pictures. To my surprise, after they discussed it, one cashier put her arm on my shoulder and said ‘the girl who wrote that has Autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her- even though she’s not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day.’ So I guess the moral of the story is that kindness is important!”

Of course, everyone is loving this post about the cake that says “Happy Birthday, Mandy” and it has been shared over 130,000 times. That, of course, doesn’t count all of the people sharing the articles about the cake and what happened with it. She got the cake for Mandy at a local Meijers and they did confirm that this story is true sharing the details. Of course, Mandy had a very Happy Birthday with this cake to enjoy.

“We are proud to have a great team, which includes people with disabilities. This team member was trying to provide great customer service, and our customer was very kind in the way she handled the situation.”

This cake is something that could happen anywhere. When it comes to birthdays, people might think twice now if they see a cake that turned out not as great as planned. A while back, an Elsa birthday cake went viral and at first everyone thought that the person did a terrible job on the cake. In reality, this cake was not made by a bakery for a birthday party and was actually made a by volunteer for Icing Smiles, a charity that makes birthday cakes for very sick children and their families. This woman had put a lot of effort into the birthday cake for a young girl and if people would have known the story then they wouldn’t have been talking negative about the cake in the first place.

What do you think of the birthday cake that was made for Mandy and the Elsa birthday cake that people thought was fail? Would you have loved it if you ended up being the one who got this cake given to you? Sound off in the comments below on your thoughts and remember to always be kind.
