WWE Rumors: Roman Reigns Gets A Stable

The latest WWE rumor is that Roman Reigns is being given a stable to battle the League of Nations, according to a report from Wrestling Inc.

Roman Reigns Gets A Stable

The feud started with just Sheamus and Roman Reigns. Both of them wanted the WWE Heavyweight Championship. The feud then escalated with the addition of Rusev and Bad News Barrett. Alberto Del Rio finally joined, and the League of Nation was formed. The odds were stacked against Reigns. Roman needed some help. The creative department decided to provide him with backup in the form of Dean Ambrose and the Usos. The reaction from the audience convinced management to pull the trigger on a full-fledged stable.

Reigns is now the leader of the Family. The main goal in WWE is to elevate Roman enough to where the fans will accept him as the world heavyweight champion. That is the role that he is destined for. By using popular performers such as Ambrose and the Usos, the creative department is hoping that the affection from the audience will rub off on Reigns. The 30-year-old is still penciled in to win the top prize at Wrestlemania, so the creative department has a couple of months to build the stable right.

Dean Ambrose in the Family

The choice of Dean Ambrose being in the Family makes all the sense in the world. For the past year, WWE has been building up the on-screen friendship between the Lunatic Fringe and Roman Reigns. The two of them have maintained their friendship from their days together in the Shield. They have bonded over their mutual hatred of former stablemate Seth Rollins, who turned on them and joined the Authority. The creative department wisely played up the friendship between Reigns and Ambrose even as they both targeted the world title.

As for Ambrose, this stable might have been the best thing to happen to him. WWE had no choice but to drop him down the ladder a little bit after losing to Reigns in the finals of the tournament to crown a new world heavyweight champion. His feud with Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens should produce an excellent match at TLC. However, it evidently feels like a step down from the main event for Ambrose. Dean actually might end up being the most popular member of the Family.

The Usos

The Usos in the Family

Outside of Dean Ambrose, there is no one on the roster that makes more sense in a stable with Roman Reigns than the Usos. After all, they really are family members. They’re all a part of the massive Anoa’i family that has been a staple in professional wrestling for decades. Jimmy and Jey are the son of Rikishi, who happens to be first cousins with Roman. It is a wise move by WWE to finally acknowledge their relationship on screen. The fact that the Usos are popular with the audience makes them a smart choice for the Family.

For the Usos, this is an excellent chance to boost their positions within the company. WWE has long viewed them as simply an act in the tag team division. While that is not necessarily a bad thing, there was a glass ceiling that they had hit. By being aligned with Ambrose and Reigns, they have a chance to work against the upper tier performers on a regular basis now. Jimmy and Jey will also have more opportunities to be in the final segment of Monday Night Raw.

Will the Family help make Roman Reigns popular enough to carry the WWE Heavyweight Championship?
