Jessa Duggar Baby Name: Jessa Explains Why Baby Seewald’s Real Name Hasn’t Been Announced

Jessa Duggar and her husband, Ben Seewald, still haven’t revealed the name of their baby yet, and the suspense is killing some Duggar fans. However, it turns out that the first-time parents have a very good reason for not revealing Baby Seewald’s real name.

Today, Jessa Duggar shared her first Facebook post since the November 5 birth of her baby boy. Instead of appeasing her fans by sharing her son’s name, she chose to celebrate motherhood by posting a few lyrics from the Bill and Gloria Gaither song, “Because He Lives.”

“How sweet to hold a newborn baby, and feel the pride and joy he gives; But greater still the calm assurance: This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!” Jessa wrote.

A few of Jessa Duggar’s Facebook followers were less than impressed with her lyric-quoting — they just wanted the new mom to spill the beans on Baby Seewald’s name. Unfortunately for Duggar fans, Jessa revealed that there’s no news to share on the name front because she and Ben still haven’t decided on a moniker for their little boy.

“Haha! We’ll be announcing as soon as we settle on a name! Still haven’t decided!” Jessa revealed.

The Jill & Jessa: Counting On star also expressed her joy about becoming a new mom.

“Every time I stare into his face, I can’t believe he’s mine! I feel blessed beyond measure!”

Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald’s baby name has been a hot topic over on the Duggar Family Official Facebook page. Some commenters speculated that the couple has been taking so long to announce the name because a media outlet has paid them for the privilege of sharing the moniker first.

“They’re going to get as much money out of this baby as possible!!..I bet they’ll be on People Mag TLC & whoever else has $CASH$” one critic wrote.

If the couple does decide to reveal the name like this, there is a high likelihood that they will do so through People magazine — after all, it is the publication that shared the first photo of Baby Seewald. Jessa’s titanic tater tot weighed in at a whopping nine pounds, 11 ounces.

Jessa revealed that she and Ben actually started talking about baby names long before Baby Seewald’s birth. During an April interview with People, she said that the processing of picking a name was “so special.” However, it seems as though she was having a hard time getting her husband to take the name game seriously — Ben joked that they might follow in the footsteps of couples Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and Josh and Anna Duggar by choosing a letter theme, and he quipped that he’s up for the challenge of finding “Q” names for all his kids.

“I like Quincy,” Ben joked. “That’s a unique name.”

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar started the family’s matching initial letter trend by giving each of their 19 kids monikers that start with the letter “J.” Josh and Anna Duggar carried on the tradition by picking “M” names for their four children.

Jessa Duggar brought up the name Quincy again in a post on the Duggar Family Blog. She said that the nickname “just sorta stuck” after Ben dreamed it up, so perhaps the parents are having such a hard time choosing a new name because they’ve become so accustomed to referring to their son as Quincy. However, Jessa and Ben have already decided that they’re not going to carry on the letter tradition.

“Seriously though, we have talked about it, and we’re not planning to go with a specific letter theme. But we like the idea of using names with lots of meaning behind them, such as names of people who have been great heroes of the Christian faith. And we like the idea of incorporating family names as well.”

During their search for the perfect baby name, Jessa and Ben came up with a novel way to discover new options to add to their list of possibilities — they asked their fans for input. The couple conducted a baby gender poll on the Seewald Family website, and they also gave their fans the opportunity to name Baby Seewald by asking them to share their favorite baby names. According to Jessa and Ben, the top five boy names were Luke, Zachary, Sawyer, Noah, and Benjamin. However, most fans thought that Jessa and Ben would be choosing a name for a girl (58,350 votes), not a boy (23,158 votes).

Are you surprised that it’s taking Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald so long to choose a name?
