‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Spoiler: Finn’s Famous Father Revealed

Possibly the biggest spoiler yet for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been revealed, after the surname for John Boyega’s Finn was accidentally leaked because it was blazoned on a 1000 piece jigsaw.

Obviously, there are some SPOILERS ahead for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so if you want to go into the film without it possibly being ruined for you then you probably shouldn’t read ahead.

That’s because the full name for John Boyega’s character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens is Finn Calrissian. That means that, in all likelihood, Finn’s father is probably the charismatic smuggler Lando Calrissian, who was portrayed in the original Star Wars trilogy by Billy Dee Williams.

Amazon, via Comic Book, was the first to reveal that Finn is actually Lando Calrissian’s son, plastering it in the title for the product which stated, “Star Wars RARE COLLECTIBLE! New Episode 7 “Finn” (Lando Calrissian’s Son) 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle in Collectible Storage Tin.”

Obviously, at the moment, this is still mere speculation, and it hasn’t been confirmed by Lucasfilm/Disney or anyone connected with Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

There is some trepidation that this rumor is far from true though, with Screen Rant pointing out that the product is actually attributed to Disney Lucas Films Ltd., which isn’t actually a real company.

But it’s not the first time that it’s been suggested that John Boyega’s character, who in The Force Awakens’ trailers has been revealed as a stormtrooper, is the son of Lando Calrissian.

Calrissian was the former owner of the Millennium Falcon. He’s known as a gambler and a smuggler, and he joins the Rebel Alliance

Earlier in 2015, there were rumors that Billy Dee Williams wouldn’t be involved in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens but would make a cameo in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

The Sun, via Comic Book, revealed back in March that, according to their sources, 77-year-old Billy Dee Williams would be filming a cameo or a small scene in Star Wars: Episode VII, having already been approached by the film’s director Rian Johnson (Brick, Brothers Bloom, Looper).

The insider for the British publication teased, “It will be a fun cameo. Billy’s definitely up for it.” This immediately led to suggestions that Lando Calrissian is being brought back into the franchise because he will be related to one of the newest Star Wars characters, which is why he was then linked to Finn’s.

The fact that he might be appearing in the eighth installment of the franchise rather than the seventh would also lend credence to these rumors. That’s because it would allow John Boyega’s Finn to establish himself in the franchise before he and Lando are then reunited in the upcoming sequel, which is due out in 2017.

Billy Dee Williams even teased to Cinelinx that he would be appearing in a future Star Wars film too, trying to qualm the outrage out his omission from The Force Awakens. “Yeah, people were pretty upset about it,” Williams declared. “But I uh… I may very well… I have a feeling I’m going to show up. There’s nothing I can really discuss about it at this stage.”

There have been a variety of rumors over the past concerning the new young characters that will be making their debuts in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

In fact, earlier today, it was widely speculated that Daisy Ridley’s Rey is actually a member of the Skywalker family, which was exacerbated after the latest TV spot for the film premiered.
