‘Beauty And The Beast’ Series Finale Title Revealed

Beauty and the Beast will end its run on The CW after Season 4 airs on the network in 2016. The cancellation of the series with a loyal following of beasties on social media was announced earlier this month, and it was tough news to take for those loyal fans to take in. The series was renewed for a fourth season before the third season even aired, but that will be all the luck the series has.

The series, which stars Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan as Catherine and Vincent, never really took off on the network. The series may have not been a ratings hit, but fans of the series did have tuned in week after week, and they were vocal about their love for the series.

Variety shared more about the performance of the series earlier this month.

“‘Beauty and the Beast’ has never been much of a ratings performer, averaging a 0.6 rating in 18-49 and 1.6 million total viewers in “live plus same-day” estimates for its premiere season in 2012-13. It seemed touch-and-go that it would receive a third season and the numbers proved why: Season 3, which premiered in June, averaged a 0.23 in the demo and nearly 900,000 same-day total viewers.”

That is why The CW decided to keep the series on the air for as long as it did. The series pushed the show to summer during season 2, and season 3 aired a 13-episode season over the summer months this year. The season finale aired in September.

Last year, Mark Pedowitz, president of CW, spoke about the decision to move the series to summer.

“I truly like it as a summer series. One of our stated goals for the network was to have year-round programming. We’re doing more and more of this, and having ‘Beauty and the Beast’ gives us some scripted programming for summer. We are developing other things at this point for next summer. So I plan to keep it there.”

Season 3 focused on Catherine and Vincent trying to live a normal life while being chased by two different foes. The first half of the season focused on a couple chasing after them, but the second half featured Jason Gedrick as a superhuman beast like Vincent, who had been alive for 200 years. The beast was connected to the earlier incarnation of Catherine and Vincent that lived during the 1800s.

The exact premiere date for Beauty and the Beast Season 4 has not yet been revealed, but TV Line shared a small spoiler for the upcoming and final season of the series. The title for the series finale has now been revealed.

“At the very least, I can report that the Season 4 aka series finale will be titled, fittingly, ‘Au Revoir.'”

The cast is currently filming episodes for Season 4, so there are no details currently known about the final season, other than the finale title.

This series was a reboot of the popular CBS series of the same name starring Linda Hamilton and Ron Pearlman. The CW take on the series was more modern, with the initial reason for Vincent’s beast-like behavior being the military trying to create super soldiers.

Fans will miss this series. With low ratings and less real estate for The CW to use at this time, the network decided to give the series one last season to wrap up the love affair of Catherine and Vincent. The fans will not be left hanging without closure.

Are you sad to learn of Beauty and the Beast’s end? Will you watch the finale when it airs on The CW next year?
