Star Wars: Daisy Ridley And John Beyoga’s Reactions To ‘The Force Awakens’ Trailer Are Better Than Yours

Millions of fans worldwide have just about lost their minds upon watching the trailer for the highly-anticipated Star Wars sequel, The Force Awakens. The trailer premiered during the halftime show of the New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles game on Monday Night Football. In Star Wars speak, one can say that the two-minute trailer had The Force backing it as it broke the Internet, getting 17,000 mentions on Twitter and around 220,000 views on YouTube within 20 minutes from the moment the trailer hit the web. Additionally, the ticket demand for The Force Awakens was so high that it crashed multiple ticketing websites worldwide on Monday, as previously reported in The Inquisitr.

Screaming and crying and jumping for joy are typical reactions for most Star Wars fans. Interestingly, the two lead actors for the upcoming Star Wars film – Daisy Ridley and John Beyoga – probably had the most epic reactions of all. Using Instagram, both actors recorded and shared their responses to the trailer and they are nothing short of adorable.

First up is Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey, the character speculated to be the scavenger daughter of Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) and Han Solo (Harrison Ford). Her character was featured most prominently during the trailer, which explains her emotional response to watching it.

Daisy Ridley’s Instagram video, recorded by a friend of hers, shows her breaking down in tears as she watches the trailer from bed. It’s also worth noting that Star Wars The Force Awakens is Ridley’s first ever feature film as an actor, which makes the video all the more special and heartwarming. Her caption for the Instagram post went, “totally emotional seeing it for the first time and so so so incredibly awed to be part of this incredible legacy.”

John Beyoga’s reaction had more of a hilarious bent but is just as emotional. In the video, you can see him nodding his head and saying “yeah” repeatedly until a scene in the trailer caused him to explode into hysterics. You could have hit him with a brick and he wouldn’t have noticed it. His caption went, “THE TRAILER IS JUST EEEEPPPPPPPIIIIICCCCCCC! Star Wars is back! gaaaaaad laaaaard! You know what! Let me just relax because this kind God oooo! Lmao! Seriously congrats to everyone! December 18th!”

After having viewed both videos (multiple times), one can easily surmise that both actors haven’t had the opportunity to watch the complete version of the movie yet. Maybe they saw some raw footage of the film here and there. But for John Beyoga and Daisy Ridley, to see themselves in the official The Force Awakens trailer – with its masterful editing and iconic John Williams theme music – is validation of the highest order after months of hardwork on set.

The casting of John Beyoga and Daisy Ridley was also a big step forward in terms of representation for women and people of color, not just in movies but across all media, simply on account of the fact that the Star Wars franchise constantly puts out products ranging from video games and toys to books and TV shows.

Beyoga and Ridley’s casting has also caused some haters to start a social media movement calling out fans to boycott Star Wars: The Force Awakens (hashtag: #BoycottStarWarsVII) for “promoting white genocide,” according to Digital Trends.

While there has always been bigotry within the Star Wars fandom, many supporters took to Twitter to remind us yet again that Star Wars fans in general are good guys who won’t let the Dark Side win.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is scheduled for release on December 18, 2015.
