2K Sports Releases My Career Mode Trailer For ‘WWE 2K16’ Revealing New Options

The release date for the latest installment of WWE’s perennial 2K Sports release, WWE 2K16, is less than a month away, and the WWE Universe and gamers alike get excited for each new peak into the game.

As What Culture noted, many people see the huge 120-man roster on WWE 2K16 as its most appealing feature. You can play WWE 2K16 as everyone from Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins to The Rock and Steve Austin.

Others, however, are more excited about the gameplay for 2K16. Trailers have been released to show off WWE 2K16’s playability, and gamers everywhere were psyched last week to watch a match featuring NXT Superstars Enzo Amore and Colin Cassidy vs. the Vaudevillains. As Cinema Blend pointed out, that trailer showed off a lot of new moves we hadn’t seen yet for WWE 2K16.

This specific trailer gave us a look at a lot of the tag team moves utilized in WWE 2K16, a feature serious gamers are always interested in. We see Enzo helping Big Cass with a big boot, and we see how the hot tags play out. On the downside, fatigue doesn’t seem to play as important of a role in 2K16 as it has in previous WWE video game incarnations, and if the WWE Superstars are working up a sweat, it’s hard to see.

But the latest WWE 2K16 trailer may be the most exciting yet.

The trailer points out the major improvements in the WWE 2K16 version of My Career mode. There is a strong emphasis on the player having more choices and control of character development over WWE 2K15. With the ultimate goal to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, you can try to get there ask quickly or slowly as you like.

That begins in NXT, where you can climb to the top of the mountain and decide whether you want to be a long-reigning champion or get to the main roster right away (it doesn’t seem as though you’ll have the luxury of being in that sweet middle spot that crosses over into both worlds, like Kevin Owens recently had, and Sasha Banks is currently experiencing).

When you have backstage interviews with WWE’s Renee Young, you can choose whether to answer the questions respectfully or in a more traditionally heel fashion. Once you make the cross to the WWE main roster, you’ll eventually be approached by Triple H, forcing you to choose whether to align or feud with The Authority. When your superstar inevitably interferes in a match in 2K16, you can decide the timing, target, and location — do you want to attack WWE Legend Triple H during the entrances at the top of the ramp, or would you rather attack former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan mid-match by hopping the ringside barricades? The way this plays out could determine a future tag team partner or your new arch nemesis. If you form a tag team, you’ll be expected to climb the competitive ranks of the WWE tag team division.

As you work towards building a WWE Hall of Fame-worthy career, there is a checklist of milestones to work towards that will build your HOF resume. Can you have a WWE title reign that lasts at least a year? Have you held every title available to WWE Superstars? Can you have a perfect WrestleMania record throughout your 2K16 career? (To show just how long the new Career Mode is meant to last in 2K16, you have to have at least 12 WrestleMania appearances to check off that last one).

Since the entire 120-man roster has already been released for WWE 2K16, including such names as the Mikey Whipwreck, Jim Neidhart, Shawn Michaels, and all three faces of Mick Foley — these types of trailers are what WWE gamers are looking forward to each week.

Pre-orders are currently available for WWE 2K16 on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 consoles, although My Career mode is only available on current generation console versions. You can get your own copy of WWE 2K16 in stores in the U.S. on October 27.
