Miley Cyrus Vs. Taylor Swift: Who Ruled The 2015 MTV VMAs?

All eyes were on Miley Cyrus at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. The dueling pop stars attended the award show for different reasons. Taylor Swift was premiering her new music video for “Wildest Dreams” and was up for nine nominations, while Miley Cyrus hosted the two-and-a-half-hour televised event.

Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus have been dueling it out in the media lately. Both have been making headlines for different reasons. Taylor has been making headlines for her controversial “Bad Blood” video, her questionable famous friends, and her surprise guests at her 1989 World Tour.

All eyes were on Miley as she hosted the MTV VMAs on Sunday, August 30 in Los Angeles. With the wacky and wild singer taking over the mic, it was expected to be a raucous and wild time — and wild, it certainly was.

Cyrus and Swift made some interesting fashion choices on the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards red carpet. Swift wore a matching black and gold sequin houndstooth crop top and jogging pants. The “Wildest Dreams” singer wore her signature blonde hair slicked back in a ponytail and futuristic cat-eye makeup. As previously reported via the Inquisitr, Swift also brought along nine of her famous friends from her “Bad Blood” music video.

It’s been reported that Taylor was going to lead the VMAs since she was the most-nominated artist of the night. She was nominated for nine awards, including Video of the Year for “Bad Blood.” However, Taylor only picked up three awards for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video for “Blank Space,” and Video of the Year for “Bad Blood.”

While Swift lead in nominations, Cyrus took the lead when it came to hosting the MTV Video Music Awards. It’s safe to say that the award show became the unofficial Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus show since all eyes were on them all night. Cyrus shocked the audience with her numerous outfit changes, making jokes about marijuana, and fitting in as many curse words as she could.

Miley even attempted to flash the VMA viewers after Taylor won the Video of the Year award for “Bad Blood.” Some thought it was the “Wrecking Ball” singer’s response to her Marie Claire interview, in which she slams Taylor’s video for glorifying violence.

As for Miley, well, she was just being Miley. The over-the-top pop star promised her fans that she would make a nude appearance on the VMAs red carpet – and she did! Miley showed up in silver suspenders attached to a chandelier-style skirt that revealed that she forgot her underwear at home. She paired her risqué look with silver over-the-knee boots.

Cyrus topped off her look with blonde dread extensions worn in a high ponytail, drop earrings, and a neon blue smokey eye.

Since Taylor picked up the last award of the night, Miley made sure to close the VMAs with a memorable moment. She performed her new song “Dooo It!” with Wayne Coyne from The Flaming Lips and some of the contestants from Ru Paul’s Drag Race. Before the live telecast ended, Miley told viewers to listen to her new album for free at MileyCyrusandHerDeadPetz.com.
