Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt Inspire TV Series: ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith’ Reality Show In The Works

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have inspired a reality show, and it has nothing to do with traveling around the world and collecting kids from every country.

According to Deadline, 3 Ball Entertainment, the production company behind Extreme Weight Loss, has teamed up with New Regency to produce a reality competition inspired by Mr. & Mrs. Smith, the 2005 action rom-com starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as a husband and wife who make a shocking discovery that they are both assassins. Their boring marriage gets a healthy dose of mortal danger when they discover that they’ve been hired to assassinate each other.

Obviously, the Mr. & Mrs. Smith reality show won’t pit gun-wielding couples against each other in house-destroying death battles, and it also won’t be a dating show. As People points out, the Mr. & Smith movie is partially responsible for producing one very hot Hollywood power couple — Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie fell in love while filming together in 2003. The competitors on the reality series will already be married.

Deadline describes the show as “a high-octane, high-stakes game.” However, no further details have been provided. Like the Mr. & Mrs. Smith movie characters, perhaps the competing couples will be bored with their marriages and using the show to spice them up. The couples could be pitted against each other in a battle to see which team would make the best assassins, and this could involve performing stunts like seeing who can scale a building fastest or who can “survive” being shot at by bad guys wielding paint ball guns. It might be a bit like The Amazing Race meets Marriage Boot Camp.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie won’t be involved with the series — they’re much too busy to bother with reality TV. However, Disney is hoping that Angelina doesn’t have a problem with revisiting her past works. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the House of Mouse is working on a sequel to Maleficent, and it’s hoped that Jolie will reprise her role as the horned fairy.

The news about the Mr. & Mrs. Smith reality series broke at an interesting time. In Touch Weekly recently claimed that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have decided to split after spending over a decade together. However, Gossip Cop pointed out that In Touch has been predicting the demise of “Brangelina” for a very long time, and none of its past divorce rumors proved to be true.

Would you watch a Mr. & Mrs. Smith reality show, even if it’s lacking the eye candy that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie provided in the movie?
