British singer and four-time Grammy award winner is something of a gay icon. Smith has shot to fame in over the past year or so as his album In The Lonely Hour sold over one million copies on both sides of the Atlantic. Sam is now one of the best known faces on planet earth, but he has admitted that his songs are mostly about unrequited love. Last night Smith was obviously in a playful mood when he shared a picture of himself getting cosy with a beautiful lady.
Sam took to Instagram to share the picture of himself with 25-year-old American singer Jillian Hervey who sings with the band Lion Babe. Sam captioned the picture with the words “I nearly turned last night for @LionBabe.”
Sam is clearly enjoying life again after a troublesome few months. The “Stay With Me” star had to settle a legal dispute with Tom Petty after it was claimed that the chorus of Sam’s hit song sounded too much like Petty’s “I Won’t Back Down.” Shortly afterwards Smith was hit by an altogether more worrying problem when he suffered a vocal hemorrhage whilst on tour. Sam had to fly to the U.S. for a surgical procedure and was unable to speak for four weeks afterwards in case his vocal chords were scarred. Sam finally got the all clear to speak again just last week.
Sadly for Sam and his fans he had to cancel a host of shows and festival appearances as a result of his surgery. This included a cancellation at the Wild Life music festival held in Sussex over the past weekend.
Sam may not have been able to sing at the festival but that did not stop him attending to enjoy the entertainment on show. Sam took to Instagram and Twitter again to share his excitement at having attended his first ever music festival as a customer. Sam said “Yesterday, I got the chance to go to a festival for the first time in my life as a punter. It was f*****g amazing.” Sam also shared his admiration for two of the acts appearing at the new festival.
Sam clearly had a great time at Wild Life, but a local newspaper the Argus reported that over 30 people were ejected from the festival for drink and drugs offenses. Five people were arrested and 25 cautioned by the Sussex police.
Sam Smith is clearly in a good place right now and it seems that the troubles of the past few months are behind him.
