First Grader Released From Hospital After Being Dragged 100 Feet By School Bus [Video]

A Wilkerson Elementary student was released from the hospital Sunday after being dragged 100 feet by her school bus on Friday, according to WHAS 11.

First grader Ally Ehman of Louisville, Kentucky was getting off her school bus in a residential area Friday when her backpack got caught in the door. Before she could warn the bus driver, the bus sped off.

Neighbors say they saw the girl being dragged by her school bus, and desperately tried to get the school bus driver to stop. However, it wasn’t until the driver of a red Camaro – who saw the girl being dragged – sped up and got the bus to stop, Mirror reports.

When the bus came to a halt, witnesses ran to the young child’s aide. Neighbors say Ally was conscious after the incident, but seemed to be in shock as she laid motionless on the ground. After a few moments, she stated: “I want my mommy.”

The girl was dragged by her school bus 100 feet, but as witnessed watched in horror, they stated that it seemed as if the bus had dragged the child further than that.

Footage of the horrifying incident was captured by Tom Carman’s home surveillance. He told reporters that after watching the footage, he found it shocking that the bus driver didn’t realize the child was being dragged.

“It was amazing. I couldn’t believe it; her bouncing around in that door. All the way down the street…it was bad,” he said.

Ally was immediately transported to a nearby children’s hospital where physicians say she suffered from road rash, but she is expected to make a full recover.

She was released from the hospital Sunday.

Ally’s mother, Amy, is extremely grateful to the people that went out of their way to stop the bus driver, and to be at her daughter’s side during the tragic incident.

In a Facebook post, Ally’s mother wrote: “I just wanted to say thank u for all the support and concerns and prayers, but please keep them coming as it is going to be a long road for her & myself!”

Although Ally was released from the hospital, she still has a lot of recovering to do. However, according to her mother, she still continues to smile.

After the school bus driver dragged the girl 100 feet, neighbors are concerned and want answers, especially Ally’s mother.

The incident is now being investigated by Jefferson County Public Schools’ administrators.
