Giuliana Rancic Surrogate: ‘E! News’ Host Considers Adoption After Losing Third Embryo

Giuliana Rancic announced that her surrogate, who was carrying the third and last embryo, has miscarried. The E! News host opened up to People magazine about her and her husband’s hopes for a second child.

“It was painful. We were so optimistic with this last embryo. We thought, ‘This is definitely going to work. This is our last shot.'”

Giuliana’s surrogate, Delphine, miscarried on New Year’s Eve for the second time. She previously had two embryos implanted, but she previously suffered a miscarriage in June. Giuliana admitted this latest loss was “the toughest blow… It was a really hard time.”

Rancic, 40, and her husband Bill Rancic, 43, welcomed son Duke over two years ago, according to an ABC News report. The former Fashion Police host said that getting pregnant would be a risk because she’s on cancer-suppressing medication. Rancic was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in 2011, which was followed by a double mastectomy later that year. She also revealed to the magazine that she suffered a miscarriage prior to her cancer diagnosis in 2010.

Giuliana mentioned that the cancer medication she takes greatly affects her metabolism, which prevents her from gaining weight, as previously reported by the Inquisitr. The news anchor told People that she knows “she’s skinny,” but she’s frustrated because she eats and cannot seem to gain the weight. Giuliana is hurt by the people who comment on her thin appearance and say that her cancer is back or that she has an eating disorder.

“Some people were saying, ‘The cancer is probably back.’ And they were accusing me of every eating disorder. I thought to myself, ‘God, if someone really thought I had an eating disorder, what a horrible way to approach it.'”

Rancic is not letting body shaming comments or anything else get to her. Instead, she’s staying focused and is keeping her hopes up about expanding her family with Bill. Rancic said that she’s also open to adoption. The couple has been considering it since they want to try “everything” possible to have a family.

“We’re open to everything. I think adoption is a beautiful gift you’re giving each other. And it’s funny, I’m even more open to [adoption] than I was before. Because I think to myself, ‘I love Duke so much, if I couldn’t take care of him, I hope there would be someone else who would love him.'”

Giuliana Rancic is also expected to reveal what really happened behind the scenes at Fashion Police in the latest issue of People, which hits newsstands Friday. The TV personality will also release a memoir, Going Off Script, on April 7.
