Rumer Willis Getting Too Cocky About ‘DWTS?’ Star Says There’s Little Competition

Is Rumer Willis letting her first Dancing with the Stars score go to her head? The daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis hasn’t even scored a 9 yet, but she seems pretty confident that she and partner Val Chmerkovskiy already have the competition in the bag.

During a recent interview with Good Morning America, Rumer Willis slightly dissed the other Dancing with the Stars competitors by saying that she doesn’t view them as much of a challenge.

“I don’t feel we have a lot of competition. I’m really confident … I think that the heart that both of us have and will put into each dance, regardless of the scores — to me, at least — was most important.”

However, Rumer definitely isn’t resting on her laurels. She admits that she’s an overachiever who sets very high standards for herself, so there’s a high likelihood that her dancing will keep improving as the competition goes along.

“I think it’s always good to strive to be better,” Willis said. She’s such a talented dancer that she’s even taught Val Chmerkovskiy a dance that he didn’t know: Demi Moore’s Striptease routine.

However, Rumer needs to remember that fan votes are an important part of DWTS, and writing off her competition probably wasn’t the best way to score more fans — some viewers might see her comment above as being arrogant. A few disappointed fans have already shared their feelings about Rumer’s words, and she probably won’t like what they had to say.

“That was a snotty thing to say,” one commenter wrote. “I am not surprised though, just another spoiled and clueless celebrity child.”

“I would vote her off just for her cocky attitude,” another wrote. “I just don’t like people that think they are simply the best, better than all the rest.”

“She is a good dancer but seriously lacks in the humility department,” one critic pointed out. “I disagree with her as she does have competition and may have more after that remark.”

Rumer Willis is seemingly aware of the backlash to her GMA comment, and she responded to it in by sharing the Instagram post below.

“It is not a contest, there is no competition,” she captioned the image. “We shouldn’t be worried about what the other is doing. There is plenty of room for everyone to be happy and there is no need for all of this negativity. We are all beautiful and unique and should hold a space in our hearts for love not judgement and hate. My beautiful sisters I thank you for helping me learn this #loveaboveall #freeslw.”

As the Inquisitr previously reported, Rumer Willis should be very concerned about the celebrity competitors who viewers are already responding more positively towards. War veteran Noah Galloway is by far the most popular DWTS contestant on YouTube, and Riker Lynch’s fun first dance is also racking up more views that Val Chmerkovskiy and Rumer Willis’ well-executed routine.

According to Just Jared, Rumer and Val are going to perform a Cha Cha to the Adele tune “Rumor Has It” tonight. Because of Rumer’s name and Adele’s fame, it’s a cute song choice that many fans will love.

You can see if Rumer Willis and Val Chmerkovskiy stay on top of the leaderboard when Dancing with the Stars airs tonight at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Do you think Rumer’s words will hurt her chances of taking home the mirrorball trophy?
