On the same day that Eat, Sleep, Play’s Twisted Metal reboot hits store shelves in North America, there’s word that Sony has inked a multi-million dollar deal to create a movie based on the Twisted Metal franchise.
The report comes from Deadline, which has it that writer and director Brian Taylor, co-director on Ghost Rider: Spirit Vengeance, will both write the Twisted Metal film adaptation’s script and direct it.
The Twisted Metal film will reportedly follow its source material which, in case you’re unfamiliar with the franchise, features a wild cast of psychotic killers shooting at each other with guns of all sorts attached to their vehicle of choice. Whether it will closely follow the source material remains to be seen.
According to the report, Sweet Tooth, the psychotic clown who drives around in a heavily armed ice cream truck, and Doll Face, an 18-wheeler-driving young woman with a porcelain mask stuck to her face, will both be in the film.
Speaking to Game Informer, a SCEA rep confirmed that the company was in talks to possibly create a Twisted Metal film, but the spokesperson stopped short of confirming Deadline’s report.
