Barack Obama’s BATFE Intends A Ban On AR-15 Sparking Arguments Of Second Amendment Violations

Utilizing the gun-related tragedies that happened within his presidential terms, including the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting in Newton, Connecticut, The Dark Knight Rises massacre in Aurora, Colorado, the Trayvon Martin shooting in Sanford, Florida, and the Michael Brown shooting in Ferguson Missouri, Barack Obama has done all he can to implement certain forms of gun control. Many gun enthusiasts, including the National Rifle Association (NRA), have called foul on the president, associating the president’s gun control as a violation of the Second Amendment.

The Inquisitr reported numerous times on this struggle between gun control and gun rights over the years. Despite Barack Obama and the Democratic Party’s views on gun control and restrictions, Americans think otherwise as the majority of them now support gun rights. Along with the aforementioned incidents above, gun-related tragedies are now more linked to strict gun control than ever before. Even international news stations are relating their gun-related tragedies to overly strict gun control including Australia and France.

Despite this shift in thinking pertaining to guns, Barack Obama is still standing strong that to prevent gun-related massacres and mass shootings, more gun control must be enforced, though in small increments. This time, the president aims to ban AR-15s.

According to the National Rifle Association Institute of Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), Barack Obama and his administration intends to suppress the acquisition, ownership, and use of AR-15s and other.223 caliber general purpose rifles. They plan to do this through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE), which announced that it wants to ban commonplace M855 ball ammunition as “armor piercing ammunition.” From what the NRA-ILA says, this decision is a continuation of Obama’s use of executive authority to impose gun control restrictions while bypassing Congress.

This will be the third major executive action the BATFE would have taken on gun control. The first was a major change to what activities constitute regulated “manufacturing” of firearms. The second was a reversal on a position on firing a shouldered “pistol.” This one is a release of a “Framework for Determining Whether Certain Projectiles are ‘Primarily Intended for Sporting Purposes’ Within the Meaning of 18 U.S.C. 921 (a)(17)(c).

Breitbart followed-up on Barack Obama’s BATFE and iterated that the bureau will be accepting comments for thirty days prior to the finalization of the ban. Those comments will be received until March 16, 2015, at APAComments@aft.gov or through snail mail at the following address.
